Cloud computing is one of the latest Information Technology innovation phenomena that has risen from the idea of sharing, consolidating, and standardizing of resources in a centralized infrastructure and facility. This concept offers many advantages such as cost reduction in both hardware and software investment for organizations. Despite these advantages, cloud computing adoption among organizations is relatively slow with a low adoption rate. As such, this study attempts to bridge the gap by offering insight into possible factors that could influence such adoption decisions. By integrating the Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI) and IT personnel characteristics, a conceptual model is developed and tested as a preliminary study to determine the influencing factors of cloud computing adoption by the Malaysian public sector to enhance its service delivery. The results revealed that relative advantage, compatibility, and IT personnel knowledge are the innovation attributes and the human factor for cloud computing adoption in the Malaysian public sector. This study contributes to the knowledge domain of cloud computing adoption literature on theories of IT adoption particularly in the public sector.
The objective of this study was to examine the moderating effect of self-motivation on the relationship between entrepreneurial skill acquisition and self-employment practice among graduates from Malaysian public universities. It is a known fact that youth enterprises could generate employment opportunites and lead to economic growth of a country; however, researches have reported that most of entrepreneurship graduates from Malaysian universities do not go into entrepreneurship practice five years after graduation. To test this relationship, a conceptual model was developed based on Ajzen (1991) theory. The study recommended that Malaysian government and community leaders should draft appropriate strategies (for example counseling in school), that will encourage and engender greater participation of the youths in self-employment practice.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of individual attributes and business environment factors on the entrepreneurial activity of women entrepreneurs. Individual attributes such as education, working experience, attitude towards risk-taking, affect women entrepreneurial activity. Economic constraints such as lack of credit due to lack of asset collaterals and socio-cultural barriers, lack of savings due to low household income, and lack of labour skills due to low educational level also affect women entrepreneurial activity. The effect of these factors on entrepreneurial activity is worth studying because entrepreneurship development is considered a vital link to an overall economic growth of a nation through its positive impact on economic development especially at the grassroots. However, limited studies have reviewed literatures on individual attributes and business environment factors on the entrepreneurial activity of women entrepreneurs. This is the focus of this study. Methodology: The paper is a descriptive study that reviews literature on individual attributes and environment factors on women entrepreneurial activity. Conclusion: The paper concludes that environment factors exert much more influence on women entrepreneurial activity than individual attributes. Research limitation: The paper is limited to a literature review that may need further research by using a framework to investigate the factors on entrepreneurial activity. Practical implication: It shows the need for the government to support entrepreneurs through adequate provision of micro-finance. Originality: The study is a new way to look at crucial factors affecting entrepreneurial activity in a country. Paper type: This is a research paper
The reason to explain the cloud computing assimilation, as well as the understanding of the operational performance, still remains unclear. To investigate this issue, this study has examined the assimilation of cloud computing by examining the organization’s implementation of cloud computing and performance in the Malaysian public sector. Grounded by the Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI), Technology-Organization-Environment Framework (TOE) and IS Success Model. This study proposes a framework by decomposing Technological characteristic, Organizational characteristics, Environmental characteristics and Human characteristics as factors. A total of 169 agencies from the Malaysian public sector have participated in this study. Data for all the study variables have been collected through self-administered survey questionnaires and analysed using SEM-PLS. The study has shown that the effect of the operational effectiveness of cloud implementation is at a lower level. The study also reveals that factors of relative advantage, compatibility, perceived risks, top management support, and organizational readiness are found to have a significant effect on cloud computing implementation. However, both external support and government regulations are not significant to the cloud computing implementation in the Malaysian public sector. The results indicate that the model provides a good understanding of the factors that influence the implementation of cloud computing as well as operational performance.
Abstract-Psychometric Test has been used as an individual trait measurement for a long time for both experienced entrepreneurs as well as young generation who are looking for their potential in entrepreneurship. The assessment and measurement of strength and weaknesses of key entrepreneurial traits provides the entrepreneurial level and personal development planning for entrepreneur or those who want to venture into business. However, the traditional psychometric test lacks of fun element which is less enjoyable activity during answering the test. Furthermore, it requires basic understanding of business jargon that difficult for certain respondents to provide accurate respond. The purpose of this study is to propose a gamification approach which is mobile game application called 'Freezer' that can measured entrepreneurial traits of the player. In this sense, 'Freezer' creates a simulated scenario for respondents to play as an ice cream business owner and to win as a successful business person, each action done will be measured as entrepreneurial traits criteria. At the end of the game, the result will be presented that can describe the entrepreneurial characteristics of the individuals based on their planning and activities during playing the game.
