IntroductionThe COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruptions in educational institutions across the country, prompting medical schools to adopt online learning systems. This study aims to determine impact on medical education and the medical student’s attitude, practice, mental health after 1 year of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.MethodsThis study utilized a cross-sectional design. An online questionnaire was distributed digitally to 49 medical schools in Indonesia from February–May 2021. A total of 7,949 medical students participated in this study. Sampling was carried out based on a purposive technique whose inclusion criteria were active college students. This research used questionnaires distributed in online version among 49 medical faculties that belong to The Association of Indonesian Private Medical Faculty. Instruments included demographic database, medical education status, experience with medical tele-education, ownership types of electronic devices, availability of technologies, programs of education methods, career plans, attitudes toward pandemic, and the mental health of respondents. Univariate and bivariate statistical analysis was conducted to determine the association of variables. All statistical analyses using (IBM) SPSS version 22.0.ResultsMost of the respondents were female (69.4%), the mean age was 20.9 ± 2.1 years. More than half of the respondents (58.7%) reported that they have adequate skills in using digital devices. Most of them (74%) agreed that e-learning can be implemented in Indonesia. The infrastructure aspects that require attention are Internet access and the type of supporting devices. The pandemic also has an impact on the sustainability of the education program. It was found that 28.1% were experiencing financial problems, 2.1% postponed their education due to this problems. The delay of the education process was 32.6% and 47.5% delays in the clinical education phase. Around 4% student being sick, self-isolation and taking care sick family. the pandemic was found to affect students’ interests and future career plans (34%). The majority of students (52.2%) are concerned that the pandemic will limit their opportunities to become specialists. Nearly 40% of respondents expressed anxiety symptoms about a variety of issues for several days. About a third of respondents feel sad, depressed, and hopeless for a few days.ConclusionThe infrastructure and competency of its users are required for E-learning to be successful. The majority of medical students believe that e-learning can be adopted in Indonesia and that their capacity to use electronic devices is good. However, access to the internet remains a problem. On the other side, the pandemic has disrupted the education process and mental health, with fears of being infected with SARS-CoV-2, the loss of opportunities to apply for specialty training, and the potential for increased financial difficulties among medical students. Our findings can be used to assess the current educational process in medical schools and maximize e-learning as an alternative means of preparing doctors for the future.

Background: Viral and bacterial skin infection is a common condition amongst children. In developing countries, it is a complex major health problem. However, epidemiological study on viral and bacterial skin infection in the pediatric population is still lacking, especially in Indonesia. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate bacterial and viral skin infection amongst children and its association with age and sex. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design with a retrospective approach. We retrieved medical records of pediatric patients admitted to Dr. Harjono S Ponorogo General Public Hospital between 2016 and 2020. Result:  Of the 1,427 collected medical records, we found that the viral infection prevalence was 4.9% (n=70) and 7.5% (n= 107) for bacterial skin infection. Viral infection was most observed amongst subjects in the >12-year age group and 2–12-year for bacterial infection. Infection was more commonly observed amongst boys. Conclusion: The skin infection prevalence in Dr. Harjono S. Ponorogo General Hospital is lower compared to other studies. Skin infection of viral origin was most reported in children aged >12 years and bacterial infection in children aged 2–12. Both skin infections were more commonly observed in boys than girls.

Over the last decade, there has been a rise in the number of surgical procedures being perfomed under local anethesia. The in�ltration of the local anesthetic is the most painful part of this procedures, and pain associations can develop into avoidance behaviors in future procedures. Several techniques were used to reduce the pain of local anesthetic in� ltration. The objective of this study is comparing the effect of Buffered Pehacaine versus freshly mixed lidocaine-epinephrin in reducing the pain of local anesthetic in� ltration. Six subject were recruited for this study. Each subject was received 2 kind of treatment. Subject rated pain using Visual Analog Score. Pain score were compared using paired t test. Sixty seven percent (67%) subjects reported that pain of in� ltration was lower in Buffered pehacaine than freshly mixed lidocaine-epinephrine. The difference was not statistically signi� cant. There are no signi� cant difference between Buffered Pehacaine versus freshly mixed lidocaine-epinephrin in reducing the pain of local anesthetic in� ltration

Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) incidence is 75% of all skin cancers. BCC rarely causing mortality, but morbidity is high. Clinical diagnostic is the early detection of BCC suspicion, therefore, we required speci� c criteria that help to establish the clinical diagnosis. The objective of this study was to know the clinical sign as a predictor of basal cell carcinoma. Ten patients with skin tumors who came to dermatovenereological department of Dr. Moewardi hospital were included in this study. Clinical diagnosis using clinical criteria from keratinocyte carcinoma in A Cancer Journal For Clinicians in 2011 (Teleangiectasion, raise border, erythematous with bleeding, pigmentation, translucent appearance, and scarlike appearance) was used as reference of clinical diagnostic criteria. Histopathological examination was performed as a gold standard. All 10 subjects had histopathological � nding consistent to BCC. The clinical examination like pigmentation were found in all subjects while teleangiectasia, raise border, erythema with bleeding were found on 9 subject. Translucent appearance was found on 6 subjects. While scarlike appearance was absent in all subjects.
