Abstract This study aims to identify the risk factors associated with mortality and survival of COVID-19 cases in a state of the Brazilian Northeast. It is a historical cohort with a secondary database of 2070 people that presented flu-like symptoms, sought health assistance in the state and tested positive to COVID-19 until 14 April 2020, only moderate and severe cases were hospitalised. The main outcome was death as a binary variable (yes/no). It also investigated the main factors related to mortality and survival of the disease. Time since the beginning of symptoms until death/end of the survey (14 April 2020) was the time variable of this study. Mortality was analysed by robust Poisson regression, and survival by Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression. From the 2070 people that tested positive to COVID-19, 131 (6.3%) died and 1939 (93.7%) survived, the overall survival probability was 87.7% from the 24th day of infection. Mortality was enhanced by the variables: elderly (HR 3.6; 95% CI 2.3–5.8; P < 0.001), neurological diseases (HR 3.9; 95% CI 1.9–7.8; P < 0.001), pneumopathies (HR 2.6; 95% CI 1.4–4.7; P < 0.001) and cardiovascular diseases (HR 8.9; 95% CI 5.4–14.5; P < 0.001). In conclusion, mortality by COVID-19 in Ceará is similar to countries with a large number of cases of the disease, although deaths occur later. Elderly people and comorbidities presented a greater risk of death.

Objective: To analyze the association between the presence of stress in nursing students and sociodemographic and academic vulnerabilities. Methods: Analytical research conducted with 455 nursing students, whose data were obtained by means of a questionnaire to identify sociodemographic and academic vulnerabilities, and by the Lipp's Stress Symptoms Inventory. The association between variables was tested by Pearson's chi-square (p <0.05), the strength of this association by odds ratio, and logistic regression (backward method) was used to fit the model. Results: Among all students, 64% presented stress with the following associated factors: sex (p <0.010), age group (p <0.029), marital status (p <0.001), children (p <0.001), occupational status (p <0.001), cost of education (p <0.009) and current study period (p <0.001). In the final model these factors remained: sex, marital status and current study period. Conclusion: Women, students with partners, and those in the senior year of college were more likely to present stress. ResumoObjetivo: Analisar a associação entre a presença de estresse em estudantes de enfermagem e vulnerabilidades sociodemográficas e acadêmicas. Métodos: Pesquisa analítica, realizada com 455 acadêmicos de Enfermagem cujos dados foram obtidos por meio de um questionário para identificar vulnerabilidades sociodemográficas e acadêmicas e pelo Inventário de Sintomas de Stress de Lipp. A associação entre as variáveis foi testada pelo qui-quadrado de Pearson (p<0,05), a força dessa associação pela razão de chance, sendo a regressão logística (método backward) utilizada para ajuste do modelo. Resultados: Do total de discentes, 64% apresentou estresse, tendo como fatores associados: sexo (p<0,010), faixa etária (p<0,029), situação conjugal (p<0,001), presença de filhos (p<0,001), situação ocupacional (p<0,001), custeio dos estudos (p<0,009) e ano em curso (p<0,001), permanecendo no modelo final: sexo, situação conjugal e ano em curso. Conclusão: As mulheres, os estudantes com companheiro e aqueles no último ano da faculdade tiveram maiores chances de apresentar estresse.

Objective: Refl ect on the essence of care in health vulnerability from the phenomenological perspective of Martin Heidegger. Method: Theoretical-refl exive study, anchored in three essential parts: 1) Care in Heidegger; 2) The essence of care in health vulnerability; And 3) Nursing care actions on health vulnerability. Results: Vulnerability must be recognized as an indelible trait of the human condition and has its constituents in the human being, co-presence and care. Caring is an interactive process that reveals itself in the relationship with the other. Respecting the integrity of the Being in vulnerability must be a priority in nursing care, through behaviors that privilege the Being. Conclusion: Understanding ontological care and its relation to vulnerability under Heidegger's phenomenological view allowed us to uncover the facets of care in health vulnerability by adding to the nursing knowledge body a comprehensive and refl ective perspective. Resumo A vulnerabilidade é um fator chave no enfrentamento da COVID-19 tendo em vista que pode influenciar no agravamento da doença. Desse modo, ela deve ser considerada no controle da COVID-19, prevenção e promoção da saúde. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a distribuição espacial da incidência de casos de COVID-19 em uma metrópole brasileira e sua associação com indicadores de vulnerabilidade social. Estudo ecológico. Foi utilizada a análise de varredura espacial (scan) para identificar aglomerados de COVID-19. As variáveis para identificação da vulnerabilidade foram inseridas em um modelo de Regressão Espacial Geograficamente Ponderado (GWR) para identificar sua relação espacial com os casos de COVID-19. A incidência de COVID-19 em Fortaleza foi de 74,52/10 mil habitantes, com notificação de 3.554 casos, sendo pelo menos um caso registrado em cada bairro. A regressão espacial GWR mostrou relação negativa entre incidência de COVID-19 e densidade demográfica (β=-0,0002) e relação positiva entre incidência de COVID-19 e percentual de ocupados >18 anos trabalhadores autônomos (β=1,40), assim como, renda domiciliar per capita máxima do quinto mais pobre (β=0,04). A influência dos indicadores de vulnerabilidade sobre a incidência evidenciou áreas que podem ser alvo de políticas públicas a fim de impactar na incidência de COVID-19.

Objective: To analyze overweight in young adult students from the individual dimension of vulnerability, especially its interpersonal and subjective markers. Method: An analytical quantitative study was performed with 560 young adults from 26 schools in a capital city in Northeastern Brazil. After obtaining data to administer specifi c questionnaires, logistic regression was used to identify markers of individual vulnerability. Results: In the bivariate analysis, overweight showed a statistically signifi cant association with self-perception of health, satisfaction with body image and self-perception of overweight, the latter remaining in the fi nal regression model. Conclusion: It can be mainly concluded that self-perception of overweight is distorted when compared to one's actual body weight and, for this reason, young adults are vulnerable to dysfunctional health states. However, it was confi rmed that this health condition must be understood in an individual and contextual perspective. Key words: Overweight; Obesity; Health Vulnerability; Body Image; Young Adult. RESUMO Objetivo: analisar o excesso ponderal em adultos jovens escolares a partir da dimensão individual da vulnerabilidade, especifi camente de seus marcadores interpessoais e subjetivos. Método: delineou-se um estudo analítico, quantitativo, realizado com 560 adultos jovens de 26 escolas de uma capital do nordeste brasileiro. Após obtenção dos dados pela aplicação de questionários específi cos, utilizou-se a regressão logística para identifi cação dos marcadores de vulnerabilidade individual. Resultados: na análise bivariada, o excesso ponderal apresentou associação estatística signifi cativa com autopercepção de saúde, satisfação corporal e autopercepção de excesso ponderal, esta permanecendo no modelo fi nal da regressão. Conclusão: conclui-se, sobremaneira, que a autopercepção de excesso ponderal sofre distorções em relação à real situação corporal e por isso torna o adulto jovem vulnerável a estados disfuncionais de saúde. Objective: to identify nurse's competencies related to health promotion of individuals with chronic cardiac disease, in the light of the Galway consensus. Method: integrative literature review was conducted to search for studies published between 2010 and 2014 in the databases LILACS, BDENF, IBECS; and PubMed in February 2015. The 21 included studies were analyzed according to the eight domains of competence: Catalyzing change, Leadership, Evaluation, Planning, Implementation, Assessment, Advocacy and Partnerships. Results: all domains of competence were included in the nursing interventions in health promotion of chronic cardiac patients, and the Planning and Evaluation were the most evident competences. Conclusion: the results of this research highlighted the nurse as an agent capable of operating care management, in order to improve coordination of the latter with work and education and, thus, the health care of the population.

Objective to estimate the transmission rate, the epidemiological peak, and the number of deaths by the new coronavirus. Method a mathematical and epidemiological model of susceptible, infected, and recovered cases was applied to the nine Brazilian capitals with the highest number of cases of the infection. The number of cases for the 80 days following the first case was estimated by solving the differential equations. The results were logarithmized and compared with the actual values to observe the model fit. In all scenarios, it was considered that no preventive measures had been taken. Results the nine metropolises studied showed an upward curve of confirmed cases of COVID-19. The prediction data point to the peak of the infection between late April and early May. Fortaleza and Manaus had the highest transmission rates (≥2·0 and ≥1·8, respectively). Rio de Janeiro may have the largest number of infected people (692,957) and Florianópolis the smallest (24,750). Conclusion the estimates of the transmission rate, epidemiological peak, and number of deaths from coronavirus in Brazilian metropolises presented expressive and important numbers the Brazilian Ministry of Health needs to consider. The results confirm the rapid spread of the virus and its high mortality in the country.
