<p">Las necrópolis de la meseta constituyen uno de los conjuntos materiales fundamentales para entender la organización social de las comunidades del I milenio a. n. e. La tradición investigadora, que se remonta al siglo XVIII, frecuentemente ha atribuido algunos materiales de ajuar a un género o grupo de edad concreto sin el respaldo de análisis antropológicos. Desde la década de 1980, se han cuestionado dichas asociaciones y los estereotipos actualistas en que se basan. Este artículo se propone una aproximación inicial al tema de las relaciones entre los objetos funerarios y las características biológicas de los difuntos a partir de la bibliografía. Se centra en las necrópolis de Carratiermes, El Pradillo, Herrería III, La Yunta y Las Ruedas que cuentan con la información más completa. La muestra comprende 245 individuos para la Primera Edad del Hierro (siglos VI y IV a. n. e.) y otros 245 para la Segunda Edad del Hierro (finales del IV al II a. n. e.). Se analiza la distribución de la población por sexo y edad, atendiendo a la evolución de las curvas de mortalidad. También se lee la información en clave de género comparando las interpretaciones con los datos osteológicos. Además, se ofrecen algunas claves sobre la evolución de los materiales, la ausencia de marcadores de identidad y los principales ejes identitarios.
Las necrópolis son metáforas materiales de las sociedades del pasado. Las distribuciones espaciales, los estudios de materiales, los análisis osteológicos, de isótopos, etc. arrojan luz sobre las formas de la negociación social, del poder y de la autoridad que nos permiten examinar las diferentes construcciones identitarias y los modelos de organización de las comunidades protohistóricas. La investigación sobre las necrópolis de la Meseta oriental se remonta a mediados del siglo XIX y ha ofrecido extensos conjuntos materiales que han sido estudiados desde perspectivas tipológicas y temporales principalmente. En este artículo, se analizan las relaciones entre las distribuciones espaciales de los enterramientos, los materiales de los ajuares, el sexo y la edad de los individuos de las necrópolis de El Pradillo, Carratiermes, La Yunta y Numancia para examinar los vínculos sociales establecidos en la muerte como un reflejo de las estructuras organizativas de las comunidades de la Edad del Hierro.
Este volumen aborda los cambios de las comunidades de la Edad del Hierro en el Alto Duero (Soria, España), en términos de poder e identidades. Los principales temas abordados son el establecimiento del asentamiento estable en la región, el surgimiento de centros urbanos, la construcción de autoridad y genealogías, las transformaciones identitarias durante el primer milenio a. n. e. y los encuentros con Roma. Combinando un amplio conjunto de datos arqueológicos con referencias históricas, datos antropológicos y Sistemas de Información Geográfica, este trabajo aporta información esencial sobre cómo funcionaron y se transformaron las sociedades del primer milenio a. n. e.
Los mecanismos sociales que articularon las sociedades de la Edad del Hierro siguen siendo difíciles de comprender. En las últimas décadas, los modelos piramidales tradicionales han sido cuestionados por varios autores que abogan por la diversidad de las sociedades de la Edad del Hierro y la heterogeneidad de formas potenciales de configuración social. Crucial para la mayoría de los debates es el uso de analogías, con algunos autores que favorecen las fuentes históricas de la Europa medieval, mientras que otros privilegian ejemplos etnográficos de áreas alejadas del continente europeo. Si bien consideramos que ambos enfoques son legítimos, en este trabajo presentamos el ejemplo de las comunidades de “villa y tierra” medievales, particularmente el caso de Soria. Estas comunidades muestran un modelo de relaciones de parentesco, basado en estructuras organizativas transversales, que pueden ayudarnos a comprender los lazos y vínculos entre los habitantes de un paisaje según sus orígenes, lugar de residencia o familia. Por ello, argumentamos que la comunidad de villa y tierra de Soria podría servir como una analogía útil, aunque no una comparación directa, para conceptualizar las interrelaciones entre las áreas urbanas y rurales, así como para examinar la estructuración simultánea de grupos sociales en torno a los principios de parentesco y territorialidad en un contexto de urbanización emergente.
