The synthesis of nanomaterials has been reported by many researchers using different methods. One of the methods that can be used with perfect pureness and have less pollution in the synthesized materials results is the vapor phase growth technique (VPGT). Several types of nano shapes materials were reported such as nanoparticles, nanorods, nano triangular, nanosphere, and nanocrystal. The synthesis method has a fundamental process where the nanomaterials evaporated and condensed based on the temperature difference. There are three important variables, i.e., stochiometric ratio of source materials, temperature and baking time. The synthesis was occured in the quartz tube and sealed in the vacuum condition. This create the material was synthesis in pure and isolated conditions. The application of the nanomaterials synthesized via Horizontal Vapor Phase Growth (HVPG) can be implemented in anti-pathogen, anti-bacterial, gas sensing and coating applications.
Simultaneous double-sided MIG welding as alternative method for joining the skin-stringer T-joints were investigated. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the welded joints were examined. Our study showed that a distance of 27-mm (torch to surface) results in the best weld appearance. Shorter distance produces higher heat input and causes the material stringers to melted with the filler, while longer distance increases the number of porosity and prevents the formation of a complete fusion zone.
A heat exchanger is a device used to transfer heat without mass transfer. The equipment must be designed according to established standards. The standard that is widely used is the standardissued by TEMA (Tubular Exchanger Manufacturer Association). The results of the design of theheat exchanger with these standards are considered less efficient in terms of the material. Theefficiency of the material used can be analyzed by stress analysis on the components that withstand the force, and one of these components is the tube sheet. Stress analysis on tube sheets can use finite element-based software. The results of the research show that the tube sheet design that refers to the TEMA standard is relatively safe because the maximum von Mises stress is below the yield strength of the material used, while the overdesign value is rather significant because the average von Mises stress is also far below the yield strength of the material used.
Heat exchanger adalah peralatan yang digunakan untuk memindahkan energi kalor tanpa disertai perpindahan massa. Perancangan heat exchanger harus memenuhi standar yang telah ditentukan. Salah satu standard yang digunakan yaitu dokumen yang dikeluarkan oleh TEMA. Standar tersebut masih belum optimal sehingga perlu dilakukan optimasi pada komponennya. Salah satu komponen heat exchanger yaitu tie rod. Komponen tersebut dianalisis menggunakan metode finite element. Simulasi pemberian tekanan pada geometri dapat dilakukan menggunakan platform SimScale. Tekanan yang dipakai sebagai beban dapat dipakai untuk menghitung von mises pada shell. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan nilai overdesign pada komponen tie rod yaitu 475,19%.
Heat exchangers are important equipment for the process of placing heat. The most widely used type of heat exchanger is shell and tube. This type is widely used because of its simple and easy design. Design of shell and tube heat exchangers is done by the side or shell variations to get the desired performance. Therefore, research is conducted to study the effect of tube thickness on heat transfer, pressure drop, and stress that occurs in the shell and tube heat exchanger so that the optimal tube thickness is obtained.
In this research, the activities carried out are the design of heat exchangers for the production of oxygen with a capacity of 30 tons/day. The standard used in this study is the 9th edition heat exchanger design guidance document compiled by the Tubular Exchanger Manufacturer Association (TEMA). Analysis of the tube thickness effect on heat transfer, pressure drop, and stress was carried out using the SimScale platform.
The effect of variations in tube thickness on heat transfer is that the thicker the tube, the lower the heat transfer effectiveness. The highest value of the heat exchanger effectiveness is 0.969 at the tube thickness variation of 0.5 mm. The lowest value of the heat exchanger effectiveness is 0.931 at the tube thickness variation of 1.5 mm. The effect of variations in tube thickness on pressure drop is that the thicker the tube, the higher the pressure drop. The highest value of pressure drop is in the variation in tube thickness of 1.5 mm, 321 Pa. The lowest value of drop pressure is in the variation of 0.5 mm tube thickness, which is 203 Pa. The thickness of the tube also increases the maximum stress on the components of the shell, head, tubesheet, baffle, and saddle, but the value is fluctuating
Program kemitraan masyarakat mempunyai sasaran masyarakat yang berada di RW 049 Pogung Kidul Sinduadi Mlati Sleman Yogyakarta. Mitra yang terlibat merupakan kelompok pemuda dan pemudi RW 049 Pogung Kidul. Lokasi mitra pada program pengabdian masyarakat ini berdampingan langsung dengan sebuah kampus sehingga lokasi tersebut terdapat rumah atau kamar yang dikontrakan untuk dihuni oleh mahasiswa yang berasal dari luar daerah tersebut. Mitra mempunyai website yang digunakan sebagai sistem infomasi antara penduduk dengan mahasiswa yang tinggal di daerah tersebut. Website yang sudah dibuat oleh kelompok kelompok pemuda dan pemudi Pogung Kidul RW 049 dirasa masih belum bisa mengatasi masalah yang terjadi di daerah tersebut. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan adanya mahasiswa baru yang masih mencari tempat singgah dengan cara bertanya dari rumah ke rumah. Website yang sudah ada di padukuhan tersebut masih perlu ditambah beberapa fasilitas sistem informasi yang lain. Peningkatan kualitas dengan cara cross-platform akan menambah pilihan pengguna dalam memilih aplikasi yang akan dipakai. Pelaksanaan pembauatan aplikasi croos-platform tersebut dimulai dengan tahap observasi masalah kemudian pembuatan aplikasi tersebut sehingga masalah yang ada di daerah mitra dapat teratasi. Peningkatan keberdayaan mitra sesuai permasalahan yang dihadapi berupa kemampuan mitra membuat dan mengelola aplikasi smartphone sehingga transfer informasi di daerah mitra antara penduduk dan mahasiswa yang singgah di daerah tersebut dapat berjalan lancar.
