Incorporation of autohydrolysis bagasse lignin into phenol, crcsylic acids novolac Systems via the phenolation route and a pitch-lignin mixture for binders in cellulose-based composities was studied by DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry). Different phenolic components were used in order to cvaluate the curing behaviour of various resin Systems. This technique clearly showed that novolac resins with a lignin constituent had a lower heat of reaction during the eure than their pure phenolic counterparts. It proved that lignin acted äs a low reactive filier. Novolacs made with lignin showed a similar eure ränge äs their pure phenolic equivalents. The exothermic reactivity of the lignin-novolacs decreased by a fraction equal to the lignin content of the resin, which indicated that only the phenolic part was responsible for the exothermic reaction of the resin during curing.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
