The present study deals with the synthesis and characterizations of zinc oxide and manganese doped zinc oxide nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were synthesized by using simple hydrothermal technique and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The XRD analysis of different samples revealed the presence of wurtzite phase of all the samples. The TEM analysis revealed the spherical or hexagonal shape of the crystalline particles with smooth surfaces. Further the effect of manganese doping on the photocatalytic performance was also investigated. For the photocatalytic experiments, the degradation of Direct Blue 15 dye in aqueous phases was examined under UVand solar irradiation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
