This study assessed the effect of cooperative microfinance on the performance of women entrepreneurship in Kwara State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study identified entrepreneurial activities carried out by the women entrepreneurs, contributions of cooperative entrepreneurial activities to the women as well as identified constraints experienced by the cooperators in developing entrepreneurship among members. One hundred and seventy-six entrepreneurs show randomly selected out of three Cooperativeifteen Women engaging in Cooperative activities in Kwara State for the study using Taro Yamane's formula at 5% error tolerance and 95% level of confidence. Instrument used for data collection was primarily questionnaire while data were analyzed using descriptive (frequency and percentage) and inferential statistics (Pearson Correlation analysis). Findings indicate that Group/Membership Increment (=4.63), Group Development (= 4.91), Skill Acquisition (= 3.98), Self Actualization (= 3.69), Economic growth (= 3.64) and Community Development (= 3.55) are major benefits accruing from cooperative entrepreneurial activities to the women cooperators. However, Inadequate Finance (= 4.87), Lack of access to raw materials (= 4.76), Maladministration (= 4.65), Inadequate market information (= 4.58), Lack of good Coordination (= 4.31), Lack of adequate and proper are major challenges experienced by the cooperators in developing entrepreneurship among members. The study recommends coordinated entrepreneurship training/education programme for the cooperators by the government in order to improve their entrepreneurial capacity and government intervention in the provision of necessary financial assistance to women in order to eliminate their poverty and improve their productivities.
This study explored the relationship between organizational reward system and employee performance. Competition has become tenser in various sectors of the economy, organizations are harsh to boost employee morale at work and this situation requires management to be more careful in setting up reward system and remunerations to its employees in addition to their wages and salaries. The objectives of the study are to examine the effect of Employee Benefit on Job Performance and also to investigate the effect of Work Bonuses on Employees Motivation. 124 copies of questionnaire were administered to Cadbury Plc employees in Lagos State, Nigeria to get primary data that treated and tested appropriate research questions and hypotheses accordingly. For the purpose of this study, correlation and descriptive research was employed. The Yamane formula was adopted to determine the sample size. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences and Cronbach's alpha was employed. The study found out that employee bonus significantly affects employee motivation in business and employee benefit significantly affects job satisfaction in business. The study recommends that organizations need to have a reward system(s) as a standard which is considered fair and equitable. Not having a reward system in an organization will lead to resistance from the employees and also Incentive management and practices such as pay incentives and fringe benefits should be based on realistic and standard methods in accordance with industrial benchmarks, indices and procedures and should likewise conform to ethical valuations and practices.
The role of business incubation in fostering entrepreneurship and SMEs development has generated a strong interest among policymakers in recent years. Even among scholars, there is a general consensus that entrepreneurship is pivotal to economic growth in both developing and developed countries. This study investigated the role of business incubators on entrepreneurship and SMEs development in Nigeria. The population of this study comprised of 60 incubatees in Oyo and Lagos State National Board of Technological Beneficiaries (NBTI). Yamane formula was employed to determine the sample size. The sample size for this research study was 60 respondents (30 incubatees in Oyo State and 30 incubatees in Lagos State). The sampling validity was used to access the validity of the data. The study made use of statistical tools which include: analysis of variance (ANOVA) and correlation efficient in testing hypotheses where applicable. The responds gotten from the questionnaire was sorted, coded and the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for the analysis. This study found that business incubation coaching has a positive significant on human capital management towards entrepreneurship performance and also revealed that incubation business knowledge has a positive significant on the sales turnover level of entrepreneurship performance. This research has shown that 70% of the all startup ventures that survive the first three years of operations passed through the incubation programs. The study recommended that the incubation centers should emphasize more on their coaching and technical knowledge, as the result of findings shows that coaching and technical knowledge acquisition contributes 61.3% and 73.6% respectively towards entrepreneurship performance in terms of human capital management and their productivity performance level.
Entrepreneurial Orientation is a key source of intangible value for organizations to sustain the competitive advantage through highlighting the new opportunities available in the business environment, exploiting them optimally and making them successful especially in a highly competitive business environment. EO has emerged as an area of research and EO impact studies have become a sub-field in Entrepreneurship Education research. The objectives of the study are to determine the effect of Organizational Culture on EO and also to examine the effect of Entrepreneurship Orientation (EO) on firm performance. The study population refers to the managers of SMEs that are registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in Lagos State. Analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation efficient and regression analysis was adopted. The research found that organizational culture is EO driven. Entrepreneurial orientation can be supported through organizational culture hence; organizational culture may have the capability to influence SMEs performance and therefore can lead to enhancement in competitiveness. The study also found a positive relationship between EO and firm performance which can be interpreted by the fact that a high EO level in firms shows that the firm is highly innovative, proactive and capable of undertaking risky activities. The study recommends that Entrepreneurial Orientation should be encouraged in the SME sector by undertaking different policy measures, there by resulting in better performance. The firm’s performance can be leveraged to enhance organizational learning processes, creative performance, corporate performance, improved decision making processes and adaptation to a rapidly changing work environment.
The main purpose was to examine and analyze the strong impact of entrepreneurship practices on poverty reduction in Southwestern Nigeria. This poverty issue has become households name in Nigeria, and despite various economic development polices and many different strategic policies designed to reduce poverty through human and highly capital development. Also, most economist guru in Nigeria has forecasted that, if government can make proper use of an entrepreneurship practices in all business sectors of their economy, poverty will be a thing of the past in Nigeria. These set of people view entrepreneurship practices as a business, which will involve suitable set of people who are fully ready to take risks in all their business activities. Ready prepared to identify every business opportunity and obtain materials, plan, and implement workable action that will achieve the business expectation. Data collection was done by interview, in-depth discussion with respondent. The study of this nature require highly proper interview in order to get desire results. Field note, and documentation are also used to complement the interview in order to get desired result. Pure and table water industry business owners are only key respondent in this study. Descriptive Statistics and Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis are method of data used. The reason why researcher is using this method is that it will easily show if entrepreneurship practices can solve poverty issue or not. The finding revealed that entrepreneurship practices have highly positive impact on poverty reduction in Southwestern Nigeria. Enterprise business operators are prospering well, but still need optimized entrepreneurial competency in all their activities to achieve the desired result. The result strongly indicates that in Nigeria, the Entrepreneurship practices are most antidote to poverty reduction and job creation at this moment that Nigeria is technically moving out of the economic recession.
