Dynamic compliance of machine tool spindle is a necessary input for stability limit prediction. It can be determined by a single input–single output modal analysis, so called tap test. Despite methodology of modal analysis is well known for many years and there are several commercially available software packages supporting it, executing the experiments and evaluation of the results require both knowledge and skill. Therefore, there is a need for automation of all stages of data acquisition and signal processing to make this method applied in industry. This article presents the methodology, algorithms and software which execute all operations and analysis automatically; thus, they can be done directly on the factory floor without the involvement of highly qualified personnel. It enables completing of the tap test and obtaining proper results by an operator who do not have any knowledge on modal analysis. This article presents examples of the software application in factory floor conditions.
In the paper, the researches on sleeves made out of maraging steel 1.2709 using selective laser melting (SLM) technology are presented. This additive technology is recognized as favorable for the environment, due to 100% use of material and durability of manufactured details. The fabricated sleeves underwent subsequent tests, in particular, microhardness, porosity and homogeneity of the material was examined before and after heat treatment and salt bath nitrocarburizing process. Two kinds of fatigue tests were performed. The first consisted of the typical sinusoidal alternating load, the other was the high pressure pulse load test close to the real work conditions. It is of high importance that the fatigue strength of the tested sleeves is considerably higher than that of the similarly produced details shaped as a standard samples for tensile stress. The Mössbauer spectrometry analysis of hyperfine magnetic field distributions proved that SLM did not change considerably the martensite structure at atomic level.
The article presents the results of strength tests in the form of a static tensile test on the INSTRON 5967 testing machine. Samples were made with the use of the Prusa i3 MK3 3D printer, by modeling with a plasticized material (FFF) made of ABS copolymer, polylactide and its modified variant. According to the information provided by the manufacturer, heat-treated modified polylactide has mechanical properties similar to ABS copolymer filament. The publication also discusses the method of manufacturing elements subjected to the tests, the heat treatment process, as well as changes in material properties as a result of this treatment. Based on the test results, it was found that the annealing process increased the proportion of the crystalline phase, which significantly improved the strength properties of the modified polylactide.
W artykule przedstawiono wykorzystanie symulacji numerycznej nieliniowych drgań samowzbudnych dziedzinie czasu w analizie stabilności procesu obróbki. Łącząc metodykę wykrywania drgań samowzbudnych z odczytem kodów maszynowych powstało narzędzie do symulacji numerycznej i walidacji programu obróbki, które jest tematem niniejszego artykułu. The paper presents utilization of numerical simulation of non-linear chatter in the time domain in stability analysis of machining process. By combining all the above in one and enabling G-code reading, a tool for numerical simulation and validation of entire machining operation was created which is a subject of this paper.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
