Cette note de synthèse se propose de faire le point des travaux de recherche publiés dans le champ de l'éducation et de la formation depuis 1987 et relevant d'une approche clinique d'orientation psychanalytique. Ce travail fait suite à la note de synthèse parue à cette date dans la Revue française de pédagogie et qui témoignait de la constitution de ce champ spécifique de recherches dans la ligne de ce que S. Freud a énoncé en 1913, à savoir que la psychanalyse pouvait présenter un certain intérêt pour la pédagogie. Dans la première partie de l'article, nous nous sommes attachés à décrire l'évolution de cette approche dans les deux dernières décennies, en la resituant dans le cadre d'une évolution plus large du contexte social et d'une évolution concomitante de la clinique psychanalytique. Cela nous amène à discuter plusieurs questions concernant l'épistémologie de ces recherches. Dans la deuxième partie de l'article, nous proposons un panorama des travaux et des recherches, en les ayant regroupés sous trois rubriques, «l 'infantile », «l e(s) rapport(s) au(x) savoir(s) » et le tryptique «g roupesinstitutions-organisations », dont nous avons pensé qu'elles constituaient des notions organisatrices et/ou fédératrices de ce champ.
Cet article contient d’une part des éléments biographiques et bibliographiques sur la psychanalyste kleinienne Esther Bick, ainsi qu’une évocation de sa méthode d’observation des nourrissons à travers son texte princeps, Notes on Infant Observation in Psychoanalytic Training, publié en 1964. D’autre part il rend compte des conditions d’une extension de sa méthode à l’observation d’une enseignante de collège durant une année scolaire entière. Des éléments du compte rendu de la première observation sont proposés comme illustration du type de matériel recueilli et quelques retombées du travail de recherche effectué sont envisagées.
