A realização de um exame laboratorial é dividida em três etapas, as fases pré-analítica, analítica e pós analítica, sendo que a maior quantidade dos erros ocorre na primeira delas. Essas falhas podem ocorrer em função de fatores como o estresse sofrido pelo animal no transporte até a clínica, o inadequado preenchimento da requisição do exame ou a manipulação e conservação incorretas das amostras. O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi determinar a prevalência dos principais erros cometidos na fase pré-analíticas dos exames de felinos do Distrito Federal, estabelecendo associação e correlação entre as alterações encontrada com idade e/ou sexo desses animais. Foi realizada uma análise de 1169 laudos do exame de hemograma e 20 pareceres de bilirrubina emitidos por um laboratório do Distrito Federal, onde através das observações presentes, foi possível determinar as alterações mais prevalentes. Além disso, a associação ou correlação das alterações com o sexo e/ou idade dos animais foi analisada através da realização dos testes Qui-quadrado com correção de Yates e Correlação de Pearson. A agregação plaquetária foi a alteração mais encontrada estando presente em 35% dos exames, seguida da leucocitose com 22%, da falta de informações em 18%, do baixo volume da amostra sanguínea em 16%, do plasma hemolisado e da eritrocitose em 13% e da lipemia e dos coágulos em 2% dos laudos laboratoriais. E observou-se que a degradação da bilirrubina esteve presente em 30% dessas análises clínico patológicas. Além disto, os valores encontrados pelos testes de associação e correlação não permitiram estabelecer algum tipo de associação entre as variáveis sexo e/ou idade e as alterações encontradas, se demonstrando irrelevantes estatisticamente. Esse estudo enfatiza a necessidade do aprimoramento profissional do médico veterinário devido a presença de erros na fase pré-analítica relacionados a sua atuação, como a falta de identificação de seus pacientes e o baixo volume de amostra sanguínea, que podem ser interpretados como um despreparo por parte desses profissionais.
A doença renal crônica (DRC) é uma enfermidade que ocorre com bastante frequência na clínica de pequenos animais e possui uma prevalência maior em gatos. Além disso ela é caracterizada por ser uma lesão progressiva das unidades funcionais dos rins. Esse trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a eficácia da terapia com células-tronco mesenquimais halógenas derivadas do tecido adiposo em pacientes que são acometidos por esse distúrbio. Dois felinos domésticos diagnosticados com a DRC, apresentando sintomas como a perda de peso, vômito e diminuição do apetite foram encaminhados para realizarem o tratamento com células tronco mesenquimais (CTMs). Os animais realizaram os exames de ultrassom e o bioquímico sérico, os quais confirmaram a presença dessa enfermidade por meio da análise de alterações presentes na morfologia dos rins e pelo aumento nos parâmetros de concentração sérica da creatinina. As CTMs foram descongeladas e preparadas no laboratório Biocell e foram realizadas três aplicações de CTMs nesses pacientes, com o intervalo de vinte e um dias entre cada uma delas. Os procedimentos, foram realizados através da soroterapia por meio da via intravenosa. Durante esse estudo clínico, não foi observada a presença de nenhum efeito adverso e colateral devido a essa administração de CTMs. As células tronco mesenquimais halógenas derivadas do tecido adiposo promoveram uma diminuição na concentração de creatinina sérica desses pacientes, os quais voltaram a se alimentar bem e passaram a ter uma melhor qualidade de vida. Com isso, essa terapia demonstra-se muito promissora e pode se tornar uma boa opção terapêutica para o tratamento dessa enfermidade.
A ancilostomíase é uma parasitose gastrointestinal que acomete os animais domésticos. No Brasil, essa enfermidade tem como seus principais agentes etiológicos o Ancylostoma caninum e o Ancylostoma brazilienses. Além disso, essa doença possui cunho zoonótico e pode infectar os humanos, que entram em contato com sua forma infectante, resultando em uma infecção conhecida como larva migrans cutânea (LMC) ou popularmente chamada de "bicho geográfico". Com isso em vista, a realização de medidas preventivas para controlar essa doença parasitária é extremamente importante para diminuir a sua transmissão e pode ser realizada através de várias ações. Essa revisão bibliográfica tem como objetivo levantar dados entre os anos de 1999 a 2021 acerca da ancilostomíase e de algumas bases químicas que podem ser utilizadas de forma terapêutica para controlar essa enfermidade. Um dos métodos profiláticos utilizados para essa doença é realizado através da administração de fármacos em animais enfermos, mas, em áreas endêmicas, novas infecções e casos de reinfecções podem surgir e a utilização da mesma base química em
