) aplicados em pré-emergência de I. grandifolia e de cinco quantidades de palha de cana-de-açúcar (0, 5, 10, 15 e 20 t ha -1 ). A eficácia de controle das plantas daninhas foi avaliada aos 7, 14, 21 e 28 dias após a aplicação dos tratamentos (DAT). Com a adição de palha (15 e 20 t ha -1 ) ao solo foi reduzida a população de I. grandifolia. À medida que a quantidade de palha foi aumentada, reduziu-se a eficácia dos herbicidas; com 15 t ha -1 de palha, o controle foi considerado insatisfatório para todos os tratamentos utilizados. Com 20 t ha -1 nenhum herbicida foi eficaz, entretanto, a palha foi eficiente na supressão desta espécie, verificando-se que o número de plantas emergidas foi menor mesmo na testemunha. ABSTRACT EFFECTIVENESS OF HERBICIDES THROUGH DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF SUGAR-CANE STRAW ON THE IPOMOEA GRANDIFOLIA CONTROLThis work had as objective studies the effect of different amounts of sugarcane straw picked without burns about effectiveness of some herbicides in the I. grandifolia control. The experiment was conduced in field in the Centro de Ciências Agrárias/UFSCar, in Araras, SP. The treatments consisted of herbicides herbicidas ametryn + trifloxysulfuron-sodium (1463 + 37 g ha -1 ), imazapic (84 g ha -1 ), imazapyr (200 g ha -1 ), 1 diuron + hexazinone (1170 + 330 g ha -1 ) and 2 diuron + hexazinone (1330 + 160 g ha -1 ) applied in pre emergence of Ipomoea grandifolia and on five growing amounts of sugarcane straw ( 0, 5, 10, 15 e 20 t ha -1 ). The effectiveness of control of weeds was evaluated to the 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after application of treatments (DAT).The straw reduced the population of I. grandifolia even in the treatments without herbicide use. The measure that increased the amount of straw there was reduction in the effectiveness of the herbicides and with 15 t ha -1 of straw the control was considered unsatisfactory for all of the treatments. With 20 t ha -1 the control was null for all the treatments, however, was observed that in this case, the own straw was efficient in the suppression of these weed, since the number of emerged plants was smaller, even in the treatment without herbicides.

Invasive winter annual grass infestations on rangeland accumulate large quantities of litter on the soil surface, as plants senesce yearly and decompose slowly. It has been speculated that winter annual grass litter can adsorb soil-active herbicides and reduce overall performance. Three experiments were conducted from 2017 to 2018 at the Colorado State University Weed Research Laboratory to evaluate interception and subsequent desorption of herbicides applied to litter from three invasive winter annual grass species with simulated rainfall. Imazapic, rimsulfuron, and indaziflam were applied to medusahead [Taeniatherum caput-medusae (L.) Nevski], ventenata [Ventenata dubia (Leers) Coss.], and downy brome (Bromus tectorum L.) litter at two amounts (equivalent to 1,300 and 2,600 kg ha−1). Rainfall was simulated at 3, 6, 12, and 24 mm at 0, 1, and 7 d after herbicide application. Herbicide concentration from the collected rainfall was measured using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry. At 2,600 kg ha−1, B. tectorum herbicide interception was 84.3%, while V. dubia and T. caput-medusae averaged 76% herbicide interception. There were no differences in desorption among the three litter types. Simulated rainfall at 0 d after application recovered 100% of the intercepted rimsulfuron and imazapic from B. tectorum litter, while recovery decreased to 65% with rainfall at 1 or 7 d after application. Only 54% of indaziflam could be recovered at 0 d, and recovery decreased to 33% when rainfall was applied at 1 or 7 d after application. Applying soil-active herbicides before forecasted rain or tank mixing with a POST herbicide to provide initial control could potentially increase the amount of herbicide reaching the soil and provide more consistent invasive winter annual grass control.

ResumoEm variedades de cana-de-açúcar podem ser observadas respostas diversas aos herbicidas, tendo como consequências problemas de fitotoxicidade, que podem ocasionar redução na produtividade. Com o objetivo de estudar a seletividade de herbicidas sobre as variedades de cana-de-açúcar RB925345, RB925211, RB935744 e RB855036, foram desenvolvidos quatro experimentos em campo, um para cada variedade, no delineamento de blocos casualizados, em Araras (SP). Os herbicidas utilizados foram: trifloxysulfuron-sodium + ametryn (351 + 99 g i.a ha ). Foram realizadas avaliações visuais de intoxicação aos 15, 30, 45, 60 e 90 dias após aplicação (DAA), altura das plantas aos 30, 90 e 180 DAA, perfilhamento e análise tecnológica constituída pelos teores de sólidos solúveis ( o Brix), Pol (%) caldo, Pol (%) cana, Fibra (%) e Pureza (%), aos 380 DAA. Inicialmente, todas as variedades tiveram sintomas de intoxicação aos herbicidas. Os inibidores da ALS (imazapyr e imazapic) tiveram sintomas mais acentuados aos 30 DAA, com paralisação do crescimento das plantas, presença de folhas retorcidas e coloração arroxeada. Aos 90 DAA, nas variedades não havia sintomas de fitotoxicidade significativos, sendo tolerantes aos herbicidas aplicados. Não foram observadas diferenças significativas entre os tratamentos com relação ao perfilhamento, altura das plantas e na qualidade tecnológica final das variedades estudadas.Palavras-chave: Saccharum spp., fitotoxicidade, qualidade tecnológica. Selectivity of herbicides in varieties of sugarcane AbstractSugarcane varieties can present different responses to the herbicides and have as results phytotoxicity problems that could cause reduction in the sugarcane yield. With the objective of studying the selectivity of herbicides on the sugarcane varieties RB925345, RB925211, RB935744 and RB855036, four experiments were carried out in the random block design, one for each variety. The treatments consisted of herbicides trifloxysulfuron-sodium + ametryn (351 + 99 g a.i ha ). Visual evaluations of selectivity were taken at 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 days after application (DAA), heights of the plants at 30, 90, 180 DAA, tiller height and technological analysis of soluble solids ( o Brix), Pol (%) broth, Pol (%) cane, Fiber (%) and Purity (%) were made at 380 DAA. Initially all varieties presented intoxication symptoms due to herbicides. The inhibitors of ALS (imazapyr and imazapic) induced inhibition of growth, twisted leaves and purple coloration at 30 DAA. At 90 DAA the varieties did not present symptoms of phytotoxicity, being considered tolerant to the applied herbicides. Significant differences in tiller height, height of the plants, and technological quality were not observed due to treatments.

RESUMO: A implantação do sistema de colheita mecanizada de cana-de-açúcar resultou em alterações no sistema produtivo, dentre elas a modificação da flora infestante, haja vista a promoção do surgimento de espécies de plantas daninhas que antes não eram recorrentes nos canaviais. Diante do exposto, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo determinar curvas de dose resposta dos herbicidas amicarbazone, saflufenacil, mesotrione e sulfentrazone em pós-emergência no controle das plantas daninhas Merremia aegyptia, Ipomoea purpurea, Luffa aegyptiaca, Mucuna aterrima e Ricinus communis. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos constituíram da aplicação das diferentes doses dos herbicidas sobre as plantas daninhas M. aegyptia, I. purpúrea, L. aegyptiaca, M. aterrima e R. communis quando estas se encontravam no segundo par de folhas verdadeirasO método utilizado foi o de curva de dose resposta, sendo aplicadas doses equivalentes a 1,5, 1,0, 0,5, 0,25 e 0,00 vezes a dose comercial de cada produto (amicarbazone, saflufenacil, mesotrione e sulfentrazone). Aos 7, 14 e 21 dias após as aplicações dos tratamentos (DAT) foram avaliados visualmente o controle, e aos 21 DAT determinada a massa seca da parte aérea. O amicarbazone e sulfentrazone na dose comercial ocasionou controle superior a 80% para todas as espécies estudadas. Os herbicidas saflufenacil e mesotrione não foram eficazes no controle de L. aegyptiaca e R. communis, respectivamente. Dessa forma, foram observados diferentes níveis de suscetibilidade das espécies de plantas daninhas aos herbicidas aplicados em pós-emergência, sendo os mais eficazes amicarbazone e sulfentrazone.

Resumo -No sistema de colheita mecanizada sem a queima prévia do canavial (cana crua) é deixada sobre o solo uma camada de palha que pode superar até 20 t ha -1 , o que representa uma barreira para germinação e emergência de algumas espécies daninhas e pode afetar a lixiviação e eficácia dos herbicidas. Portanto, diante dessa alteração, os herbicidas utilizados na pré-emergência das plantas daninhas, no sistema de cana crua, precisam apresentar algumas características físico químicas especificas para que sejam eficazes no controle de plantas daninhas, tais como: alta solubilidade em água, baixa pressão de vapor e baixo K ow . Além disto, é importante considerar a quantidade e distribuição de palha no campo e a intensidade de chuva após a aplicação dos herbicidas, já que estes fatores determinam o quanto do produto é interceptado pela palha, não atingindo o solo que é o seu destino final. Diante do exposto, a presente revisão tem como objetivo esclarecer como a palha na superfície do solo pode influenciar o controle químico das plantas daninhas e o comportamento dos herbicidas em áreas cultivadas com cana-de-açúcar. Palavras-chaves: persistência, mobilidade, herbicidas, precipitação Abstract -In the mechanical harvesting system of sugarcane, without previously burning (raw sugarcane), a straw layer is left over the soil, that may overcome up to 20 t ha -1 , what represents a difficulty for germination and emergence of some weed species being possible to affect herbicides leaching and efficacy. This way, considering this environmental change, herbicides used for weeds control in pre-emergence conditions, in raw sugarcane system, must present some specific physicochemical characteristics to be effective on weeds control such as high solubility in water, low vapor pressure and low K ow . Furthermore, it is important to consider straw amount and distribution in the field and rainfall intensity after herbicide application, since these factors determine how much of the applied product is intercepted by straw, do not reaching the soil, its final destination. According to this information, the present review aims to elucidate how straw presence on soil surface may influence the chemical weeds control and herbicides behavior in areas cultivated with sugarcane crop.

Seasonal semideciduous forests in southeastern Brazil have experienced intensive fragmentation, and the interference of weeds may affect the dynamics of restored communities. The purpose of this study was to determine if there were specific densities of the weeds Urochloa decumbens and Ipomoea grandifolia at which the growth of seedlings of four Neotropical tree species -Senegalia polyphylla and Enterolobium contortisiliquum (Fabaceae) and Ceiba speciosa and Luehea divaricata (Malvaceae) -would be negatively affected. A randomized experimental design was conducted in a greenhouse, with five treatments to each tree species (different weed densities per pot per tree species) and four replicates per treatment. After the weeds flowered, the height and stem diameter of seedlings were quantified, including the aboveground dry biomass and the percentages of macro and micronutrients contents in the leaves. The growth of the tree seedlings was affected by the lowest weed density (two weeds per pot) when interacting with U. decumbens or I. grandifolia. In general, significant decreases in the percentage of macro and micronutrients in the leaves were observed, especially at eight weeds/pot. Such results could warrant experimental practices in chemical control in conjunction with alternative methods to control of these two weeds in restored areas.Interferência de plantas daninhas em mudas de quatro espécies arbóreas neotropicais RESUMO. As florestas estacionais semideciduais do sudeste do Brasil têm experimentado intensa fragmentação e a interferência de plantas daninhas influencia a dinâmica das comunidades restauradas. O objetivo deste estudo foi testar se o aumento das densidades de plantas daninhas (Urochloa decumbens e Ipomoea grandifolia) afetava o crescimento de mudas de quatro espécies de árvores neotropicais -Senegalia polyphylla e Enterolobium contortisiliquum (Fabaceae), Ceiba speciosa e Luehea divaricata (Malvaceae). O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado: cinco tratamentos por espécie (diferentes densidades de plantas daninhas por vaso, por espécie de árvore) e quatro repetições por tratamento. Após o florescimento das plantas daninhas, quantificaram-se a altura, o diâmetro do caule, a biomassa aérea seca e as porcentagens de conteúdo de macro e micronutrientes nas folhas das espécies arbóreas. Verificou-se que a menor densidade de U. decumbens e de I. grandifolia afetou de negativamente, o crescimento das mudas das espécies nativas. No geral, observou-se diminuição do conteúdo de macro e micronutrientes nas folhas das mudas das quatro espécies arbóreas, principalmente na densidade de oito plantas daninhas/vaso. Os resultados obtidos podem embasar práticas experimentais sobre o controle químico em conjunto com métodos alternativos no controle de I. grandifolia e U. decumbens em áreas de restauração ecológica.Palavras-chave: competição, manejo, floresta estacional semidecidual, restauração.

<p> The present study aims to evaluate the control of C. benghalensis by herbicides applied in post-emergence and in pre-emergence sequentially in the infesting weed in the coffee crop. Two field experiments were carried out in a coffee crop, with natural infestation of C. benghalensis, the experimental design of both was completely randomized with 4 replicates. The first experiment, involving a single application of herbicides in post-emergence presented the following treatments: (1) saflufenacil (70 g i.a. ha-1); (2) glufosinate (400 g i.a. ha-1); (3) carfentrazone (20 g i.a. ha-1); (4) flumioxazin (120 g i.a. ha-1); (5) metsulfuron (6 g i.a.  ha-1), and (6) witness (without application of herbicide). In the second experiment, the treatments were: (1) saflufenacil (70 g i.a.  ha-1); (2) carfentrazone (20 g i.a. ha-1); (3) flumioxazin (120 g i.a.  ha-1); (4) metsulfuron (6 g i.a.  ha-1), all these treatments with a sequence of indaziflam (75 g i.a.  ha-1), at 21 days after the application of the treatments (DAT) of pos-emerging; (5) Witness (without application of herbicides). In the first experiment the herbicides safluenacil and flumioxazin presented the best percentages of control in post-emergence with 90 and 85.25% respectively, at 7 DAT, keeping the control superior to 80% at 21 DAT. In the second experiment, the treatments saflufenacil and flumioxazin with indaziflam sequential, presented control of 80% and 82.5% respectively at 28DAA (Days After Application). The herbicides saflufenacil and fluxioxazin represent an option for the control of C. benghalensis in post-emergence and favor the performance of the sequentially applied indaziflam herbicide. </p>
