O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar o consumo de energia na implantação e condução da cultura do Crambe abyssinica Hochst, em sistema de plantio direto, na Fazenda Experimental Lageado, pertencente à Faculdade de Ciências Agronômicas - UNESP, localizada no município de Botucatu - SP. Avaliando a sustentabilidade do sistema, estimaram-se, a eficiência energética e a cultura do crambe. Para o levantamento dos componentes da estrutura de dispêndios, foram utilizados coeficientes energéticos preconizados em literaturas especializadas. As estruturas de dispêndios energéticos por tipo, fonte e forma demonstraram que a energia indireta participou com 65,03%; as fontes industrial, fóssil e biológica representaram 68,80%, 23,67% e 11,30%, respectivamente. Quanto às formas em que se apresentaram, os fertilizantes químicos contribuíram com 44,31%, e o óleo diesel, com 23,04%, totalizando 67,35% do dispêndio energético, evidenciando a dependência do sistema das fontes energéticas industriais e fósseis. A eficiência da cultura encontrada foi de 9,98, apontando que, para cada unidade calórica aplicada na produção do crambe, o retorno foi de 8,98 unidades, a eficiência energética foi superior a 38, demonstrando alta sustentabilidade do sistema agrícola, tendo atingido energia cultural superior a 37 mil MJ ha-1.

In most Brazilian cities sewage sludge is dumped into sanitary landfills, even though its use in forest plantations as a fertilizer and soil conditioner might be an interesting option. Sewage sludge applications might reduce the amounts of mineral fertilizers needed to sustain the productivity on infertile tropical soils. However, sewage sludge must be applied with care to crops to avoid soil and water pollution. The aim of our study was to assess the effects of dry and wet sewage sludges on the growth and nutrient cycling of Eucalyptus grandis plantations established on the most common soil type for Brazilian eucalypt plantations. Biomass production and nutrient cycling were studied over a 36-month period in a complete randomized block design. Four experimental treatments were compared: wet sewage sludge, dry sludge, mineral fertilizer, and no fertilizer applications. The two types of sludges as well as mineral fertilizer increased significantly the biomass of Eucalyptus trees. Wood biomass productions 36 months after planting were similar in the sewage sludge and mineral fertilization treatments (about 80 tons ha −1 ) and 86% higher than in the control treatment. Sewage sludge application also affected positively leaf litter production and significantly increased nutrient transfer among the components of the ecosystem.

Many eucalyptus plantations in Brazil are in areas of soil with low fertility, with little phosphorous (P) and potassium (K) availability and with low organic matter (OM) content, resulting in a low supply of nutrients to plants, directly reflected in reduced yield. Thus, our objective was to evaluate the effects of nitrogen (N), P and K fertilization on the growth of eucalyptus plants, with the aim of achieving nutritional balance and high yield. The experiment was conducted on Renascença Farm, an agricultural property administered by Cargill Agrícola S.A., located in the city of Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil. The experimental design consisted of randomized blocks with ten treatments and five replicates. The treatments were composed of doses of N (0, 70, 105 and 140 kg ha -1 ), doses of P (0, 40, 70 and 100 kg ha -1 of P 2 O 5 ) and doses of K (0, 90, 135 and 180 kg ha -1 of K 2 O). The doses of N and K were applied at planting and as top dressing, and the doses of P were applied only at planting. The diameter at breast height (DBH), plant height and timber volume with bark were assessed, and the concentrations of macronutrients in the leaves were determined. DBH and volume were positively affected by N fertilization, and eucalyptus growth in DBH, height and volume increased with P and K fertilization. The maximum yield of eucalyptus at 21 months of age was obtained with the application of 71 kg ha -1 of N, 100 kg ha -1 of P 2 O 5 and 125 kg ha -1 of K 2 O. The concentrations of macronutrients were adequate even in the absence of the application of N, P and K. With increasing doses of K, there was an increase in leaf concentrations of K and a decrease in those of calcium and magnesium.

1RESUMO -No Brasil, diversos municípios estão construindo estações de tratamento de esgoto (ETEs), e futuramente serão produzidas anualmente milhares de toneladas de lodo para as quais deverá ser dada destinação adequada. O lodo de esgoto tratado (biossólido) é o resíduo resultante do tratamento do esgoto urbano, e sua disposição final precisa ser bem planejada devido às implicações sanitárias, ambientais, econômicas e sociais. Apresenta elevado teor de matéria orgânica e de nutrientes e poderia ser utilizado como fertilizante em plantios florestais. Esta pesquisa foi realizada na Estação de Ciências Florestais de Itatinga (Universidade de São Paulo), com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito da adição de três doses (10, 20 e 30 t ha -1 ) dos lodos de esgoto úmido (torta) e seco (granulado), complementados com K e B e aplicados ao solo nas linhas de plantio em parcelas experimentais de Eucalyptus grandis. Dezoito meses após a implantação das mudas no campo, o volume dos troncos demonstrou aumento significativo (ao redor de 130%) no tocante ao crescimento dos eucaliptos tratados com os biossólidos úmido e seco em relação à testemunha sem aplicação de fertilizante, bem como teve resultado semelhante ao do tratamento com adubo mineral. Entretanto, não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos com a aplicação dos biossólidos úmido e seco. Com relação à nutrição mineral, foi observado aumento da concentração dos elementos P, Ca e Zn nas folhas com as maiores doses dos biossólidos, e verificou-se efeito inverso de Mn. As concentrações foliares de todos os nutrientes nos eucaliptos tratados com os biossólidos mantiveram-se dentro dos limites observados usualmente nas plantações comerciais, não havendo sinais de desequilíbrio nutricional.Palavras-chave: Lodo de esgoto, biossólido e nutrição foliar.
