In previous studies the H‐1 virus was reported to have been isolated from up to 20% of human tumors, placentas, and embryos. In the present investigation no H‐1 virus could be recovered from 50 spontaneous human abortions. None of the sera that were available from the gravid women had detectable hemagglutination‐inhibiting antibody to H‐1 or RV virus. The relation of H‐1 virus to human abortions and other human disease remains in question.
