International audienceThe democratisation of school to pupils that were not familiar with the demands of longer schooling has deeply changed teaching situations and new skills are now required from teachers accordingly. These very skills cannot be passed down through teacher generations but are built in practice and conceptual support. This new, intellectually attractive type of professionalisation is still difficult to implement because it demands a lot from trainers, training schemes and the nature of circulating knowledge. Investigations into career start crossing sociology and cognitive ergonomics approaches show changes in progress. New practitioners are all the more ready to take an interest in training and research-related knowledge than the support they are given is based on the reality they face in their daily work and it gives them a collective idea of possible teaching methods both at individual and group level.
