über experimentelle Kaninchensyphilis ist von neuem die Aufmerksamkeit auf die , ,Affinität" bestimmter Krankheitserreger zum Hoden hingelenkt worden. Vor allem war die Feststellung von hohem Interesse, daß es gelingt, nicht nur durch direkte intratestikuläre Impfung, sondern bisweilen auch durch Injektion von spirochätenhaltigem Material in die Blutbahn im H od en die ersten sichtbaren Krankheitserscheinungen der Syphilis zu erzielen. Von Wichtigkeit war die weitere Beobachtung, cia Il die Verimpfung von bei mikroskopischer Untersuchung spirochätenfreiem Blut und Blutserum primär und sekundär syphilitischer Menschen in den Hoden von Kaninchen in 70 bis 80 % der Fälle syphilitische Affekte hervorruft, in denen Reinkulturen von Spirochäten nachweisbar sind. Der Hoden des Kaninchens stellt also für die Spiroehaeta paffida einen ,,Kulturapparat in vivo" dar, wie Uhlenhuth bereits früher betont hat. Das ist um so bedeutungsvoller, als uns (Uhlenhuth und Mulzer) trotz außerordentlich zahlreicher Züchtungsversuche, auch nach der Methode von N oguchi, eine Reinkultur in vitro bisher nicht gelungen ist. Außer bei der experimentellen Kaninchensyphilis zeigen auch einige andere Infektionskrankheiten eine starke Beteiligung der Hoden ; so kennen wir Hodenschwellungen bei experimentellem Rotz der Meerschweinchen, der Trichophytie der Ratten, sowie bei Mumps und Pocken der Menschen. Bei den Beziehungen und Analogien, die zwischen den Trypanosomen und Spirochäten bestehen, und bei der Aehnlichkeit, die das Krankheitsbild der Kaninchensyphilis nut dem der Dourine, Nagana und Schlafkrankheit der Kaninchen zeigt, lag es nahe, auch mit Trypanosomen Anreicherungsversuche im Hoden anzustellen. Wir begannen unsere Untersuchungen mit der Dourine. Hier liegen die Verhältnisse für eine Anreicherung der Erreger im lebenden Tierkorper viel günstiger als bei der Syphilis, denn das Trypanosoma equiperdum erzeugt, auf Mäuse, Ratten und j unge Kaninchen übertragen, eine schnell verlaufende, zum Tod führende Blutinfektion mit enormer Anreicherung der Trypanosomen im Blut, sodaß wir in wenigen Tagen eine ,,Blutkultur" erzielen können, was bei der Syphilis leider nicht gelungen ist. Bei erwachsenen Kaninchen verläuft die Krankheit in der Regel langsam als eine chronische Gewebsinfektion mit Schwellungen der äußeren Haut, der Geschlechtsteile, der Ohren, Haarausfall, Ekzem an dem Vorderkopfe, Nekrose der Haut, eitriger Conjunctivitis, Panophthalmie etc. und nur spärlichem Trypanosomenbefund im Blut und in den Organen. Eine Kultur in vitro ist bisher noch nicht erzielt worden, wenn auch Schern im Laboratorium von Uhienhuth dic Lebensfähigkeit der Trypanosomen im Reagenzglas durch Zusatz von Leberextrakt wesentlich zu verlängern imstande war. Wir setzten nun unsere ersten Versuche in der Weise an, daß wir einem Kaninchen je 0,5 ccm einer 50 %igen Blutaufschwemmung einer dourinekrankeri Maus in beide Hoden injizierten.
