Background: Vocational education teachers are key participants in the renewal of the Hungarian vocational educational system. Their professional development (as indicated by their learning activities, learning targets and information sources) contains both the input for improving their teaching and the findings essential for affecting future improvements. The aim of this questionnaire survey was to explore Hungarian vocational education teachers' views and judgements on three interrelated phenomena: their learning activities, their opinion regarding the importance of pedagogical knowledge and the efficiency and usage of information sources relevant to their professional development. Methods: A total of 1131 teachers from 37, randomly selected vocational education schools completed a questionnaire based on five subscales, each containing five-point Likert-scales: (1) teachers' learning activities, (2) judgment of their preparedness in pedagogical knowledge, (3) judgment on the importance of their pedagogical knowledge components, and (4) the efficiency and (5) usage of information sources in furthering their professional development. Results: All subscales display appropriate reliability (Cronbach's alpha ranged from .65 to .94). The study provides the descriptive statistical values for each questionnaire item, the relationships between subscales and the connections between the subscales and background variables, such as gender, career level and school type. Conclusion: This explorative study possesses theoretical relevance in developing a questionnaire that consists of five reliable subscales, all of which can later be used for either detecting changes in teachers' views or measuring the effectiveness of intervention programs and professional development training sessions designed for vocational education teachers. The study's practical relevance lies in its explorative nature: decision makers are provided with ample evidence indicating the potential advantages and obstacles vocational education teachers face in their attempt to work more efficiently.
In my study I examine how the mostly English post-colonial theory, strongly related to ISCHE and the international History of Enducation Society UK, becomes a more and more determinant approach within the research field of the history of education from the 1980s. In order to do so, first I define post-colonialism, briefly mentioning the debate surrounding post-colonial theory, as well as the relevant interpretative frame which goes beyond the "third world". In the second part of the paper I survey the more determinative works in the field and the related conferences, also mentioning the most recent research results. The appearance of researches with a post-colonial perspective in the history of education became prominent in the last two decades. Apart from clarifying the terminology (for example culture and ethnicity) these studies move away from the simplifying primitive/modern dichotomy, reinterpret spatial and temporal dimensions and in relation to the creation of cultures and identities write of processes which integrate active agents which are multidirectional and affect each other mutually. In Hungary the postcolonial studies that open Pandora"s Box have not yet gained ground in history of education, even though their role in the international history-writing of education is unquestionable.
Tanulmányunk célja, hogy áttekintést adjunk a tudásmenedzsment szerepéről, alkalmazási lehetőségeiről a munkahelyi tanulás támogatásában. Röviden áttekintjük a munkahelyi tanulás és a tudásmenedzsment elméleteit és azok összefüggéseit. A tudás, s annak fejlesztése, kihasználása a szervezetek számára a versenyképes működés alapfeltétele. A tudásmenedzsment alkalmazásának célja a szervezet tudásmegosztó képességének a módszeres és szervezett fejlesztése a teljesítmény növelése érdekében (KPMG, 2003). A tanulmányban a tudásmenedzsment alkalmazását a munkahelyi tanulás lehetséges támogatási eszközeként vizsgáljuk. Különös figyelmet szentelünk a kollaboratív médiaeszközök használatának a tudásmenedzsmentben és a munkahelyi tanulásban, mivel a távmunka, a rugalmas munkaidő terjedése és az IKT eszközök jelenléte a munka és a szabadidő világában ezt szükségszerűvé teszi. A tanulmány zárásaként rávilágítunk arra, hogy napjainkban a munkahelyi tanulásról való gondolkodást szükségszerű új megközelítésbe helyezni, mert a „bárhol bármikor” értelmezett munkavégzésben kulcsfontosságú lehet, hogy a szervezet hogyan kezeli tudását, miként zajlik a kollégák közötti tudásmegosztás és a munkavállalóknak milyen lehetőségeik vannak a tudásuk fejlesztésére.
