Improving students' conceptual understanding depends on the question types asked in exams by the teachers. In the related literature, in order to analyse the cognitive levels of the questions, Bloom's Taxonomy has been mostly used. The aim of this study was to analyse and compare the chemistry questions asked in exams at different schools in two cities in Turkey in terms of the levels of cognitive domain of Bloom's Taxonomy. The study was carried out in three types of high schools (student age: 14-17): 'Ordinary', 'Anatolian', and 'Vocational', from the cities of Trabzon and Amasya, with 17 chemistry teachers in 2000-01. 403 questions set in school examinations were analysed. It was found that 96% of the questions were of the lower-order cognitive skills (LOCS) type. Statistical tests showed that the question types were related to school type. On the other hand, more than half of the questions asked in the university entrance examination (OSS) were of the higher-order cognitive skills (HOCS) type. This contradiction causes a problem between the assessment at high school and that at the OSS. Recommendations for overcoming this problem are made. [Chem. Educ. Res.

This study analyzes the journal impact factor and related bibliometric indicators in Education and Educational Research (E&ER) category, highlighting the main differences among journal quartiles, using Web of Science (Social Sciences Citation Index, SSCI) as the data source. High impact journals (Q1) publish only slightly more papers than expected, which is different to other areas. The papers published in Q1 journal have greater average citations and lower uncitedness rates compared to other quartiles, although the differences among quartiles are lower than in other areas. The impact factor is only weakly negative correlated (r=-0.184) with the journal self-citation but strongly correlated with the citedness of the median journal paper (r= 0.864). Although this strong correlation exists, the impact factor is still far to be the perfect indicator for expected citations of a paper due to the high skewness of the citations distribution. This skewness was moderately correlated with the citations received by the most cited paper of the journal (r= 0.649) and the number of papers published by the journal (r= 0.484), but no important differences by journal quartiles were observed. In the period 2013–2018, the average journal impact factor in the E&ER has increased largely from 0.908 to 1.638, which is justified by the field growth but also by the increase in international collaboration and the share of papers published in open access. Despite their inherent limitations, the use of impact factors and related indicators is a starting point for introducing the use of bibliometric tools for objective and consistent assessment of researcher.

Teknolojik aletler kullanarak bilimsel süreç becerilerin yer aldığı bilimsel uygulamalardan birisi de okullarda düzenlenen bilim fuarlarıdır. Bunların en önemlisi de okullara destek veren 4006-TÜBİTAK Bilim Fuarlarıdır. Bu fuarlar sayesinde okullara gerekli destekler sağlanarak bilim fuarları yapılabilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılında 116B906 numaralı 4006-TÜBİTAK Bilim Fuarları'na katılmış öğrencilerin bilim fuarı hakkındaki görüşlerini incelemektir. Araştırmanın nitel araştırma desenlerinden olgu bilim kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın katılımcılarını ortaokul 8. sınıfa devam eden 12 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Öğrencilerin görüşlerini almak için yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Görüşme verileri NVivo 9.0 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yöntemine başvurulmuştur. Araştırmanın bulguları, "Fuar Hakkında Genel Görüş", "Fuara Hazırlık", "Kazanılan Beceriler", "Fen Dersine Etkisi" ve "Günlük Yaşama Etki" kategorileri altında toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre, 4006-TÜBİTAK Bilim Fuarları'nın öğrencilerin proje hazırlama ve projeyi sunma süreçleri boyunca olumlu tutum ve beceriler kazandıkları öğrenciler tarafından ifade edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın bilim fuarlarına öğrenci hazırlayan okullara, fen eğitimi uzmanlarına ve fen öğretmenlerine fayda sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

-It is not thought that the learning process is not affected by the technological improvements and changes.In this study, it is especially focused on analyzing the ideas of the prospective teachers whose competencies are determined about using information technology during the teaching of concepts. This study was planned in the mixed research design and sampling criteria are used. In this study, information technology self-efficacy scale quantitative data were obtained through the information technology -supported teaching, then with the help of the concept teaching form, their ideas for the teaching process were categorized. In the study where the self-efficacy perceptions of prospective teachers were determined at a good level in real terms, the desire to perform experimental activities in virtual and built environments were scored close prettily together. Student teachers have reflected results in accordance with the literature on the support of information technology in the learning environment. When the data was associated with both behavioral and cognitive approaches, it is found meaningful that the teacher candidates enrich their teaching with a teaching model. When the active role was considered in the teaching process, it is suggested not to ignore the necessity in teacher training programs.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, 5. Sınıfta yer alan "Ay'ın hareketleri ve evreleri" konusunun öğretiminin 6-Sigma yöntemi ile yürütülmesine yönelik öğretmen görüşlerini tespit etmektir. Bu çalışma nitel araştırma yaklaşımı kapsamında olgubilim yöntemi kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırmaya 6 fen bilimleri öğretmeni katılmış olup yarı yapılandırılmış sorulardan oluşan mülakat formu kullanılarak katılımcıların görüşleri alınmıştır. Veriler, içerik ve betimsel analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularından, 6-Sigma yönteminin kavranması zor olan soyut konuların öğretiminde etkili olduğu, fen bilimleri dersinde etkili olarak kullanılabileceği ve Ay'ın hareketleri ve evreleri konusunun öğretiminde verimli bir öğrenme ortamı sağlayacak bir yöntem olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonunda, 6-Sigma yöntemine göre hazırlanan bu etkinliğin öğrencilerin Ay'ın Hareketleri ve Evreleri konusundaki öğrenme eksikliklerini giderebileceği sonucuna varılmıştır. Ay'ın Hareketleri ve Evreleri konusuna uygun olarak hazırlanmış ders planı yönergesi, fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin derslerinde kılavuz olarak kullanılabilir. Öğrencilerin fen öğretimi sürecinde zorlandıkları soyut ve anlaşılması zor konuların öğretiminde 6-Sigma yöntemi kullanılabilir.
