An efficient synthesis of bisphenols is described by condensation of substituted phenols with corresponding cyclic ketones in presence of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride and 3-mercaptopropionic acid as a catalyst in extremely high purity and yields.

4(3H)-Quinazolinones were synthesized in high yields by one-pot three-component condensation of anthranilic acid, carboxylic acid and aniline in the presence of ionic liquid such as 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMImBF 4 ) as catalyst under solvent free and neutral conditions.

An efficient, expedient, clean and environmental being synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran's twenty derivatives (4 a–t) has been reported via one‐pot three component condensation reaction of various benzaldehydes, dimedone and malononitrile in presence of ionic liquid [(EMIM)Ac] as a catalyst at ambient temperature in ethanol. Advantages of these reaction follow the principle of green chemistry, which are operational simplicity, shorter reaction time, and mild reaction conditions with high yield (78–98 %) products.

Quinoxaline derivatives have been synthesized in high to excellent yields in the presence of thiamine hydrochloride (VB 1) as an inexpensive, non-toxic and metal ion free catalyst at ambient temperature.
