Abstrak. Judi telah lama dipahami sebagai aktivitas yang melibatkan penggunaan uang atau materi lainnya untuk suatu hasil yang bersifat tidak pasti. Judi juga diketahui dapat menimbulkan risiko pada kehidupan seseorang, meliputi masalah keuangan, masalah psikologis, hingga masalah hubungan interpersonal. Perilaku berjudi yang maladaptif juga telah dicantumkan dalam DSM-IV dengan nama judi patologis (312.31), serta dinyatakan ilegal di berbagai negara, termasuk Indonesia. Aktivitas berjudi dalam tradisi juga dapat dijumpai di berbagai budaya, seperti tajen di Bali, Indonesia. Tajen adalah tradisi sabung ayam yang turut dihadirkan dalam ritual keagamaan di Bali. Keberadaannya memberikan suatu masalah yang unik karena kedudukannya dalam konteks budaya Bali dan hukum di Indonesia, di samping masalah psikologis yang dapat disebabkannya. Melalui kasus tajen di Bali tersebut, tulisan ini hendak membahas tentang peranan budaya pada perilaku berjudi.
The research aimed to find out the essential things which make wives feel loved. It inspired by the Five Love Languages theory from . This study involved 50 married women using a phenomenologic qualitative study. As a result, this study found five things that make the wife feel loved. Those grounded Love Languages are Communication, Receiving Gift, Family time, Acts of Service, and Character and Temperament. Furthermore, this study also found another theme beyond the wife's grounded Love Languages and labeled it as Uncategorized. Three of the love languages found in this study (communication, family time, and character and temperament) are unique and different from the original Chapman's theory. This finding will influence further study in understanding love languages in the Indonesian context.
Empathy is an activity to understand what other people are thinking and feeling by engaging cognitive, affective and communication skills without losing self-control. This research explores empathy in inclusive elementary school teachers in Denpasar. This research uses qualitative Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method toward six inclusion elementary schools in Denpasar. The results showed that empathy respondents were divided into three major themes. The themes are self-conditioning, self-control and empathy expression. Empathy is important in teaching and learning. Empathy will affect the relationship between teachers, students and parents. Empathy can play an important role in the integration of children with special needs in the educational process. Children with special needs are not marginalized.
