Peningkatan harga pakan menjadi kendala bagi proses berjalannya usaha peternakan. Banyak peternak yang memanfaatkan herbal ke dalam air minum agar hasil budi daya optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian herbal dalam air minum. Penelitian ini menggunakan 30 ekor ayam dengan peubah konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi pakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penambahan herbal dalam air minum secara signifikan meningkatkan konsumsi pakan, menurunkan bobot badan, meningkatkan konversi pakan. Dapat disimpulan pemberian herbal dapat ditambahkan dalam air minum tanpa menimbulkan dampak lain pada ternak.
Krisis pangan global menjadi polemik yang perlu diatasi bersama. Generasi milenial pertanian berperan penting dalam meresonasi inovasi teknologi. Salah satunya dengan memanfaatkan tanaman lokal untuk meningkatkan produktivitas ternak. Penggunaan feed additive sebagai alternatif pengganti antibiotik pada pakan sangat berguna untuk menjaga performa kesehatan ayam broiler. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan fermentasi buah maja sebagai upaya peningkatan produktivitas ayam broiler. Adapun variabel yang diamati meliputi pengukuran pakan total, bobot total panen, dan FCR ayam broiler. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pembuatan fermentasi buah maja selama dua minggu, dilanjutkan dengan metode eksperimental in vivo pada ayam broiler selama 30 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan fermentasi buah maja dalam air minum belum memberikan pengaruh terhadap konsumsi pakan total, bobot panen ayam, serta FCR. Namun demikian, fermentasi buah maja dapat diberikan pada ayam broiler tanpa memberikan efek buruk.
<p class="Default"><strong>Objective</strong>: The aim of the study was to determine the response of broilers to the use of Kepok banana hump flour as a partial substitute for commercial feed.</p><p class="Default"><strong>Methods</strong>: This study used 256 broiler chickens, with four feed treatments, namely: T<sub>0</sub> = 0; T<sub>1</sub> = 10; T<sub>2 </sub>= 30 and T<sub>3</sub> = 50% Kepok banana hump flour. The experimental cages in the form of boxes consisted of 32 units of cage plots, with a cage density of 8 birds/cage plot. Research variables: feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion ratio, carcass weight, carcass percentage, abdominal fat percentage, digestive tract weight, heart weight, liver weight, ventriculus weight, ammonia excreta and income over feed cost. The data obtained were analyzed according to the design used, namely: Completely Randomized Design, if the treatment was very significantly different, followed by the smallest real-test.</p><p class="Default"><strong>Results</strong>: The results showed that the use of Kepok banana hump flour in commercial feed was very significant (P<0.01) on feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion ratio, carcass weight, carcass percentage, abdominal fat percentage, digestive tract weight, heart, liver, ventriculus, content of ammonia excreta and income over feed cost.</p><p class="Default"><strong>Conclusion</strong>: Kepok banana weevil flour as a partial substitute for commercial basalt feed can be used up to 30% in broilers with the highest Income Over Feed Cost produced by feed containing 10% Kepok banana weevil flour, the addition of Kepok banana weevil flour as a partial substitute for commercial feed can reduce the ammonia excreta of broiler chickens.</p>
Agricultural people are responsible for providing food, such as meat, eggs and milk. In providing meat, especially chicken, the cost of feed becomes an obstacle for breeders. The local wisdom of plants in Papua is an opportunity to create quality local feed. Utilization of dregs can be used as an alternative ration. The low nutrient content contained in coconut dregs requires a touch of technology to optimize coconut dregs into quality feed. The fermentation process can be a solution to these problems. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and 6 replications. R0 = 100% Basal Feed (BF); R1 = BF 80% + Fermented Coconut Dregs 20%; R2 = BF 60% + Fermented Coconut Dregs 40%. The implementation stages consisted of (1) coconut dregs fermentation stage and (2) In-Vivo test on native chickens with the observed variables: feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion. The results showed that fermented coconut dregs could be given as starter phase native chicken feed without disturbing the metabolic process. The average provision of coconut dregs as native chicken feed with variable feed consumption, average daily gain (ADG), and FCR had no significant effect (P> 0.05). This means that the addition of fermented coconut dregs up to 40% has not had a significant effect on ration consumption, ADG, and FCR, so further studies are needed. Betel nut (Piper betel) is a fruit that is widely consumed by people in Papua which is combined with lime and areca nut in the tradition of eating areca nut. However, this Betel fruit is quickly damaged and rotten. The purpose of this study was to increase the shelf life and maintain the quality of betel fruit by combining pre-cooling and cold storage methods with pre-cooling time of 30, 60 and 90 min and cold storage time of 5, 10 and 15 days. Water content, ash content, protein content, fat content, and organoleptic tests were all performed. The best treatment to increase the shelf life of piper betel based on Bayesian Method is soaking time 90 min and storage time 10 days.
