Abstract-Cloud computing is paradigm that has emerged to deliver IT services to consumers as a utility service over the Internet. In developing countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, cloud computing is still not widely adopted. As a result, this study seeks to investigate the most influential factors that can encourage an organisation to use the cloud or which might impede them from moving to it. This research proposes an integrated model that incorporates aspects of the TechnologyOrganisation-Environment (TOE) framework and integrates the critical factors from existing theories along with other factors to examine the impact of this variable on the adoption decision of enterprises. Future work will be focused on confirming the proposed model.
Abstract-Cloud computing is a paradigm for providing and delivering IT services over the Internet. The cloud can provide several benefits for organisations including cost reduction and flexibility. However, migrating an existing system to the cloud is not an easy task because it is dependent on a number of factors. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the factors that may influence an organisation's intention to adopt cloud computing in Saudi Arabia. We proposed an integrated model in an attempt to understand why some organisations are willing to move to the cloud while others are not. This model incorporates aspects of the Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) framework with integrating the critical factors from existing theories (Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) and institutional theory) and other influential factors.
Abstract:There are several advantages of utilising cloud computing in organisations such as cost saving and flexibility in acquiring resources. The use of cloud computing in developing countries, such as Saudi Arabia, is still in its early stages and has not been as widely adopted there as in developed countries. In fact, moving a current system to the cloud depends on many factors that may affect a Saudi Arabian organisation's decision to adopt the cloud. In order to encourage the adoption of cloud technology it is essential to understand why some enterprises are more prepared than others to move to the cloud. Hence, the aim of this research is to examine factors that might impact on a Saudi Arabian organisation's intention to adopt cloud computing. In this paper, we propose a conceptual model which integrates aspects of the Technology Organisation Environment (TOE) framework. The proposed model identifies the key factors that might influence organisations to employ cloud services. Our findings show that all the proposed factors in the cloud adoption model, except for competitive pressure and trading partner pressure, are statically significant.
