Purpose The study adopted a conceptualized technological, organizational and environmental (TOE) model to empirically investigate the factors affecting hotel managers’ attitudes toward intelligent agent technology (IAT) adoption in the hotel food supply chain management (HFSCM) and their intentions for future adoption. Design/methodology/approach In-person survey was carried out in luxury hotels in Florida. Findings The findings indicated that merely 5.7 per cent of hotels are fully implementing IAT. Perceived benefits, reliability, quality of human resources, information intensity and market capabilities had a statistically significant positive impact on hotel managers’ attitudes. However, complexity and cost had a negative influence on hotel managers’ attitudes toward IAT adoption in the HFSCM. Managers’ attitude further positively influences their intention to adopt. Practical implications The validated model helps guide hotel decision makers who are considering IAT adoption in the HFSCM. Hotels that are seeking sources for competitive advantages would better consider the TOE factors in IAT adoption prior to making a decision. Originality/value This is the first study that examined IAT adoption in the hotel industry from a theoretical and empirical perspective. The validated model proposed for the adoption of IAT in HFSCM enriched the TOE model and the diffusion of innovations theory.

Cloud computing represents a paradigm shift in information technology outsourcing. The technology renders numerous benefits such as flexibility, cost reduction and scalability. Also, it presents organisations with the opportunity to conform to environmental management system. Several studies have applied different theories to investigate the factors that affect cloud computing adoption by organisations. However, the results are inconclusive. Therefore, this study systematically reviews factors influencing adoption the adoption of cloud computing by organisations. A total of 174 papers were reviewed from different databases such as Science direct, Emerald and IEEE Xplore. Consequently, 37 of these articles have been considered to come up with the most salient factors based on their frequency. The findings indicated that technology readiness, top management support, relative advantage, competitive pressure, compatibility, complexity and data security are the significant factors that affect cloud computing adoption in organisations. This review consolidates literature and can benefit decision makers in organisations who intend to adopt cloud computing technology. Furthermore, it has laid a foundation for a future part of this work which is conceptualising a model for cloud computing adoption in the upstream oil and gas sector.

Digital technologies, such as cloud computing, have transformed business activities, particularly in the public domain. In the corporate sector, where cloud computing technology has long been implemented, some organisations have succeeded, while others have been less successful. Saudi Arabia has enthusiastically supported the move to cloud computing technology; however, from a business perspective, its implementation of government cloud technology is still relatively nascent and has faced numerous challenges. The existing literature suggests that the government cloud migration depends not only on project drivers, but also on considerable barriers, which often delay successful implementation. Furthermore, many current barriers and drivers clearly involve the roles of cloud vendors, meaning that cloud vendors must be fully engaged in order to develop comprehensive solutions. Addressing this phenomenon from the lens of enterprise architecture (EA) may support the development of appropriate deployment requirements for optimal government cloud implementation. Thus, this paper is a research in progress that analyses the major barriers and drivers affecting cloud implementation in public organisations, taking into consideration the perspectives of cloud consumers and vendors. This paper also introduces a mapping conceptual model throughout The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) that supports a novel framework for tackling these barriers and their influences and enhancing drivers via a set of requirements.
