<p><em>The aim of this study is to find neologisms formed during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as to categorize the content terms and describe the neologisms' word-formation processes. The qualitative method was used in this study, which was based on a content analysis approach. The focus of this study was on online articles and news portal websites that focused on the lexical problem of language used in the production of neologisms, with the goal of enriching the understanding of neologism as a study of analytical issue during the coronavirus pandemic. It was gathered using document reading and note-taking approaches. In addition, the referential identity technique was employed to examine the data in this study. The findings of this study demonstrate that 28 neologisms were discovered during the research process. There are three types of content words that have been discovered: nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Borrowing, derivation, compounding, clipping, blending, coinage, and multiple processes are among the seven categories of word-formation processes identified in this study. Finally, it can draw some meaningful results about the use of morphology learning strategies to engage the teaching and learning process so that learners can consistently achieve learning objectives.</em></p>
Mastering vocabulary could be one of the keys to be successful in learning English. Teaching by using a certain game could be an interesting way to increase students’ vocabulary. The aim of this study is to create a scrabble wall to help students improve their vocabulary. This study employed the research and development method, as well as the ADDIE Model's theory, which is divided into five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Interviews, exams, and expert validation checklists were used as study instruments. This study used 25 students as a sample of product implementation among eleventh-grade students of SMA Putra Juang Cianjur. Data were gathered from student interviews, test results (Pre-test and Post-test), teacher replies, and expert validation results. The data analysis revealed that the product was both good and valid. The scrabble wall can be used as a means to teach English, particularly vocabulary. The scrabble wall is helpful for students as well. It may be concluded that the use of scrabble wall can enhance students’ vocabulary mastery.
Metacognitive is the process of thinking about our minds, which is how a process, and control that information to find new understanding/knowledge and seek relationships with other knowledge. The purpose of this study is to discover how students in class XI of Kulni Modern Islamic Boarding School at Cikande, Serang Banten in use English listening metacognitive strategies, as well as the differences in improving English listening comprehension among students before and after receiving metacognitive learning. The population of this study included 61 students from class XI of Kulni Modern Islamic Boarding School at Cikande, Serang Banten. The sample consisted of 29 students from A class XI. The researcher used quantitative data analysis in this study. Data is gathered by administering tests to the class. There are two kinds of tests: pre-test and post-test. According to the study's findings, the average pre-test score at researcher Modern Islamic Boarding School at Cikande, Serang Banten was 40.41, and the average post-test score in the experimental class was 57.21. Based on the data presented above, it is possible to conclude that there is a 41.5 percent change in learning outcomes. Based on the result of the study, applying metacognitive strategies for learning can help students become interested in listening activities and can be an alternative innovation in learning listening.
The research aimed at finding out the problems faced by undergraduate students and strategies they used to overcome problems during the process of research and writing thesis. This research generally employed a qualitative approach, but some data were analyzed quantitatively. The sample of the research involved the eighth and tenth semester students of English Education Department at Islamic State University of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. The data were obtained through questionnaire and interview. The result revealed that most of the students got problems in how to begin the research while only few students got difficulty in working with the advisors. In addition, strategies mostly used by the students to overcome the problems were reading many books, journals and articles related to the topic whereas the strategy of asking somebody to analyze the data was at the lowest rate. Therefore, it could be concluded that the students could be able to solve their problems they faced during the thesis writing process by applying the strategies.
