El presente estudio fue del tipo descriptivo retrospectivo, teniendo como objetivo: Determinar la frecuencia de Pérdida Prematura de Dientes Temporarios en niños de 0 a 7 años que acudieron al Hospital Regional de Luque durante los años 2009-2010. Material y Método: se tomo como población todas las hojas de registro diario de los odontólogos del hospital Regional de Luque correspondiente a los años 2009-2010. Se incluyeron dentro del estudio a los niños de 0 a 7 años con pérdida prematura, caries y obturaciones de dientes temporarios registrados dentro de dicha planilla que estuvo compuesta por 1161 niños en el año 2009 y 1836 niños en el año 2010.
Los resultados dentro de este estudio muestran que la Prevalencía de Perdida Prematura de Dientes Temporarios en niños de 0 a 7 años de edad corresponde al 14% en el año 2009 y al 12,6% en el año 2010. En los niños de 4 a 7 años de edad las piezas dentarias que presentaron mayor frecuencia de pérdida en ambos años fueron los dientes 75/85 con un 29,8% en el año 2009 y un 33,8% en el año 2010. En el año 2009 se encontró una frecuencia de caries en un 57,6% y en el año 2010 en un 57,3% de los niños atendidos.
Teniendo en cuenta los resultados de este estudio se torna necesario implementar charlas educativas dirigidas a los padres o encargados sobre prevención y atención temprana de los niños, ya que se Concluye que a edades tempranas de 0 a 3 años, solo se presenta un 2 % de pérdida prematura, encontrándose la mayor frecuencia de perdida prematura en los niños de 4 a 7 años de edad en un 98%, si se consigue que los niños asistan a la consulta odontológica a edades tempranas, se podría contribuir a la disminución del alto índice de perdidas prematuras en niños con edades más avanzadas.
Objetivo: Evaluar el nivel de conocimiento y conducta de los docentes de Educación Inicial, docentes del 1er Ciclo, docentes del 2do Ciclo y docentes de Educación Física de las escuelas públicas de la ciudad de San Lorenzo (Paraguay) frente a casos de Avulsión y Fractura Dentaria durante el año 2009. Material y Método: El diseño fue tipo observacional descriptivo de corte transversal. El muestreo fue probabilístico; teniendo en cuenta los criterios de selección dentro de una muestra de 141 docentes. Se clasificaron los datos según el género, grupo etáreo, grado de capacitación, y años de experiencia profesional; para lo cual se confeccionó un cuestionario. Resultados: El nivel de conocimiento sobre avulsión y fractura dentaria más frecuente de los docentes fue el moderado con un 50 % (70/141), seguido por el conocimiento bajo con un 27% (38/141). La conducta a seguir sobre avulsión y fractura dentaria más frecuente por los docentes fue el regular con un 47 % (66/141), seguido por la conducta a seguir favorable con un 30% (42/141). Conclusión: el nivel de conocimiento sobre avulsión y fractura dentaria más frecuente fue el moderado, en cuanto a los resultados de la conducta a seguir el más frecuente fue el de regular. Teniendo en cuenta los datos anteriormente presentados se torna necesario implementar campañas educativas sobre la atención de emergencias en Traumatismos Dentales en las escuelas, ya que en el ambiente escolar la persona más cercana al niño es el docente y su intervención en el momento que el niño sufre el traumatismo dental puede ser determinante para la resolución de los daños que éste pueda haber sufrido.
Objetivo: Conocer la frecuencia de caries en niños de 1 a 5 años y conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de acuerdo a investigaciones realizadas en universidades de Asunción reconocidas por el Ministerio de Educación y Cultura durante los años 2000 al 2013, teniendo en cuenta los criterios de inclusión y exclusión establecidos para la realización del estudio; el 59,2% corresponden a universidades que se encuentran en gran Asunción, mientras que el 47,1% corresponden al interior del país. Se identificó un total de 29 investigaciones en niños de 1 a 5 años entre los años 2000 al 2013 referentes a caries y conocimiento, actitud y práctica; siendo más estudiada la variable caries. Los valores del ceod pudieron demostrar un inicio de caries a los 3 años 1.76 aumentando con la edad y llegando a los 5 años a 4.73. La frecuencia de caries se encontró a partir de la edad de 2 años con valores entre 1,64% a 18,8%; en la edad de 3 años entre 8 a 40%; a los 4 años entre 15,5% a 72,7% y a los 5 años entre 38,7% a 58%; 50% de las investigaciones mostraron un nivel de conocimiento y práctica desfavorable.
