Healthcare systems are mindful of the importance of proper diet and nutrition in reducing the risk of various chronic diseases resulting in hospitalizations. In this regard, they are focusing on promoting the intake of foods comprising various diets with health benefits, such as the ketogenic diet. In this meta-analysis, a total of 20 research studies on the effect of the ketogenic diet on the immune system were analyzed. The research studies were obtained from three databases: Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct. From the meta-analysis, the odd ratio of a similar outcome of an improvement in the strength of immunity between the intervention and control group was 0.76. On the other hand, the p-value for the studies was 0.09, with 15 out of the 20 being considered statistically significant. The heterogeneity between the studies was I2 = 15%, signifying a low variability in the findings that is not by chance. The Ketogenic diet indeed has positive effects on immunity. Nonetheless, it can also result in negative effects that may harm human health.
Background: Increasing evidence suggested obesity was associated with the risk of prostate cancer. Also, the association between prostate cancer risk and obesity has received much attention in recent years, but the results are still unclear. Therefore, the current systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of body mass index (BMI) on prostate cancer. Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus and Cochrane databases with the appropriate key terms to identify the eligible articles related to the impact of BMI on prostate cancer. The Newcastle-Ottawa checklist was used for the quality assessment of studies, and the meta-analysis was carried out using Review Manager 5.3. Results: The present review includes 23 studies that fulfilled the criteria for inclusion. In the meta-analysis, a significant difference was observed between the obese and normal weight (P < .001) and 54% of obese has a risk compared to normal weight. Heterogeneity between the fifteen studies was high (I2 = 100%). Test for overall effect: Z = 8.77 (P < .001) (odds ratio [OR] = 0.32 confidence interval [CI]: 0.25–0.42). However, there was no significant difference observed between the overweight and normal weight (P = .75). Heterogeneity between the fifteen studies is high (I2 = 100%). Conclusion: Prostate cancer is a common malignancy that poses a threat to the health of men. Obesity is associated with a higher risk of death from prostate cancer based on the findings of the included studies. Furthermore, wherever possible, the impact of weight change on prostate cancer patient mortality should be investigated.
Background of the Study: We investigated the link between hypertension and cancer since it has been suggested that hypertension may raise the long-term risk of cancer. Previous large observational cohort studies found that greater blood pressure (BP) was related to a higher risk of cancer. Mendelian randomization (MR) was utilized to produce less confounded blood pressure estimates (BP) on overall and site-specific malignancies. The study aims to draw conclusions on the relationship between high blood pressure and cancer. Methods: Studies on high blood pressure and various malignancies are inconclusive, except for renal cell carcinoma. However, given that most meta-analyses only contained a limited number of trials, some relative risks had small to moderate magnitudes, and several may have been impacted by residual confounding, careful interpretation is necessary. The study was conducted using the meta-analysis technique. Cochran's Q test and I2 test were used to assess statistical heterogeneity between studies in the current investigation for research involving two or more cause and outcome combinations. Results: Positive correlations were also reported between high blood pressure and esophageal adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, liver, and squamous cell carcinoma. However, most studies lacked multivariable adjustments. Physical and numerical risk of cardiovascular disease is linked to bowel cancer but no other cancers. According to a meta-analysis, hypertensive persons could also be at increased danger of gastrointestinal and breast cancer. Most meta-analyses comprised several trials with moderate or mild hazard ratios.ConclusionDifferent types of cancers have been noted to be directly caused by hypertension. In addition, some treatments have also been associated with the side effects of cancer treatments to cause hypertension. Women facing hypertension have an increased risk of getting breast cancer. Although some cancers showed a real relationship with hypertension, others had no connection at all.
Nutrition and health education is an essential parts of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It can help us understand the importance of making informed decisions about what we eat, how much physical activity we get, and other factors that affect our overall well-being. This article will explore the basics of nutrition and health education so you can make better choices for your body's needs.
Without the proper due process, the civil asset forfeiture procedure violates the Constitutional rights of citizens. The proposal aims to address the current right granted to the police to seize the property of civilians. The authorizing laws established by the Assets Forfeiture Fund and the Equitable Sharing Program are problematic by offering a loophole for the abuse of the property rights of American citizens. While some states have abolished the practice, federal laws still support their enforcement. The deficiencies in the policies raise discussions on the issue of policies for profit as the major aspect of civil asset forfeiture. The proposal is to outlaw instances of civil asset forfeiture without due process on the federal level. On the state level, the preferred outcome would also include reform by repealing the laws allowing property seizure. The resistance to change in the legislature should be addressed by securing the success of the policy, taking advantage of the current unpopularity of unregulated asset forfeiture, and creating the base for the process integration on the federal level. The proposal calls for identifying stakeholders, analyzing their views, and strengthening their support. The social and political opposition should be addressed by putting emphasis on fundamental American values. The action plan and implementation process are built upon efficient communication by the policy committee to engage stakeholders and the wider public in the process. With clearly defined priorities and budget allocation, the policy will ultimately evolve into a legislative and organizational tool. Using the strategies of ascertainment of stakeholders and reframing issues to ensure appeal to American values, the change on federal and state levels will be achievable. While the change will lead to debate, significant improvement is attainable in due process and the protection of rights.
