The Effects of Ketogenic Diet on the Immune System: A Meta-Analysis

Abstract: Healthcare systems are mindful of the importance of proper diet and nutrition in reducing the risk of various chronic diseases resulting in hospitalizations. In this regard, they are focusing on promoting the intake of foods comprising various diets with health benefits, such as the ketogenic diet. In this meta-analysis, a total of 20 research studies on the effect of the ketogenic diet on the immune system were analyzed. The research studies were obtained from three databases: Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scie… Show more

“…Now, we can interfere with this process amid various techniques; one of the oldest is RNA interference which basically blocks this process of translating a gene into a protein and as a result we can see a suppression of that protein. We like this fact because this closely mimics the inhibition by drug [10].…”

“…Participation in the study included response to a questionnaire on the demographic and socio-economic data, cardiovascular risk factors and their management supported, the measurement of a few medical parameters (weight, height, waist circumference, blood pressure and heart rate) and a blood test after 10 hour fast [7]. All of this data has been collected according to specific protocols by trained doctors or nurses, at the home of the subject or at a health examination centre [8,9]. One informed consent was signed by all study participants.…”

“…Tumors within the context of an individual can be same or else the same type of tumor within the context of a different individual can be very different as well. In this series from Brian Druker which addresses that exact issue with this revolution in molecular genetics [4,14,15]. It is occurring just very recently and gives us increased genetic understanding of the cause state of cancer that makes us realize how diverse the mechanisms are, that can cause cancer.…”
