Nazife KARADAĞ, Servet ÖZDEMİR ÖzBu araştırmanın amacı doktora eğitim sürecinin danışman öğretim üyeleri ve doktora öğrencileri tarafından değerlendirilmesini sağlamaktır. Araştırmada katılımcıların, mevcut lisansüstü eğitim sürecine ilişkin görüşlerinin ayrıntılı olarak alınması amacı ile nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden 'durum çalışması' tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın katılımcılarını doktora düzeyinde ders veren/tez yürüten öğretim üyeleri ile doktora eğitimi sürecinde bulunan öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcıların belirlenmesinde amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden 'ölçüt örnekleme' tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verileri araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiş olan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formları ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin toplanması sürecinde öğretim üyeleri ile birebir görüşmeler, doktora öğrencileri ile ise odak grup görüşmesi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgu ve sonuçları ve araştırma sonunda geliştirilen öneriler doktora eğitiminin amaçları, doktora eğitimi ile adaylara kazandırılan bilgi, beceri ve yetkinlikler, doktora eğitimine başlayacak adayların sahip olması gereken yeterlilikler, tez danışmanlarının sahip olması gereken yeterlilikler, danışman-öğrenci ilişkileri, doktora eğitim-öğretim süreci, ölçme-değerlendirme süreci, teknolojik donanım alt yapı hizmetleri, bölüm kültürü ve doktora eğitimi sürecinde yaşanan sorunlara ilişkin öğretim üyesi ve doktora öğrencisi görüşleri doğrultusunda şekillendirilmiştir. Anahtar Sözcükler: Doktora eğitimi, Öğretim üyesi, Doktora öğrencisi ABSTRACTThe aim of this study is to evaluate the process of doctoral education from the viewpoints of faculty members and doctoral students. 'Case study' method was employed for a detailed understanding of the participants' views on the current postgraduate education processes. The participants of the study were composed of doctoral students and faculty members offering doctoral courses and supervising dissertations. Criterion sampling, which is a type of 'purposeful sampling,' was used as the sampling method. Data were collected through semi-structured interview protocols prepared by the researchers. In the processes of data collection, one-on-one interviews were made with the faculty members whereas focus group interviews were conducted with doctoral students. The findings of the study and the suggestions made for future were presented from the viewpoints of the faculty members and doctoral students. They included the aim of doctoral education, knowledge, skills and competencies aimed for doctoral students , qualifications of doctoral students who will begin doctoral education, qualifications of academic advisors, the relationship between faculty members and doctoral student, doctoral education processes, assesment and evaluation processes, technological equipment and infrastructure services, departmental culture, and the problems during the doctoral education process.
Abstract. The purpose of the present study is to describe the roles and responsibilities of academic leaders.Specifically it aimed to provide answers to following questions: What are the competencies of academic leadership? What are the approaches determined by academic leaders in the management of organizational process? A phenomenological research design of qualitative research was used. The participants of the study consist of 13 senior managers from various positions in a university in Turkey and they were determined through maximum variation sampling method. In collection of the data, a semi-structured interview model was used. According to the results of the study, the managers participating in the study categorize the tasks on the focus of academic leadership role into three groups, "bureaucratic works", "the works about instructors" and "educational works". When the views of the managers about the factors shaping the academic leadership role were studied, scientific and techonological advances, socio-cultural background and personal factors played important role in the process.
The aim of this study is to analyze the postgraduate theses on the subject of higher education in a thematic and methodological perspectives. Qualitative research methods and techniques were used in the research. Within the scope of the research, have been examined postgraduate theses which are registered to YÖK National Thesis Center and were made about the higher education between 2000-2018. A thesis examination form developed by the researcher was used as data collection tool in the study. In the analysis of the data, content analysis and frequency analysis techniques were used. According to the results of the research, the number of master's theses in the field of higher education is higher than the number of doctoral dissertations. The thesis focuses on the structure and management of higher education. The most widely used methods in thesis are qualiitative research method, most used data collection tool questionnaire / scale, most used data analysis technique, quantitative analysis and most used sample type teaching staff and student.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the branding processes of universities in Turkey with the consideration of the context of cities where the universities are located. This research is conducted to respond to this question: How is the branding process of Turkish universities in the context of the branding of their cities? Data constructed in accordance with qualitative approach were collected through document analysis technique. The study is structured based on a descriptive method. In the study, universities' branding process is assessed based on the related literature, the ratio of being chosen, base points for entry, and the number of students, faculty staff and faculties. According to the result of the study, the branding processes of Turkish universities are overshadowed by the branding of their cities. In addition, factors, including universities' faculty sources, the number of students and base point for entry, which are considered to be important for the branding of universities, are differentiated depending on the context of the cities.
