<p>Este artigo apresenta os primeiros resultados de uma pesquisa interdisciplinar em andamento desde março de 2001, promovida pela Área de Educação Química da UFRGS (AEQ/UFRGS) com a cooperação do Projeto TERMISUL. Nessa pesquisa, entre outros itens, são estudados lingüística e conceitualmente manuais acadêmicos de Química Geral em português. Por isso, estão envolvidos, simultaneamente, pesquisadores e alunos bolsistas dos cursos de Química e de Letras/Tradução. Os textos sob estudo são traduções do inglês e são analisados com apoio informatizado, observando-se tanto sua constituição textual e terminológica quanto sua adequação conceitual e didática. Destacam-se aqui resultados específicos da investigação lingüístico-terminológica, especialmente os que dizem respeito à repetição lexical em capítulos dedicados ao tema “Equilíbrio Químico”. Nas análises, são adotadas técnicas de estatística lexical-terminológica e algumas técnicas de Lingüística de <em>Corpus</em>. Finalizando, é feita uma apreciação desses resultados e das perspectivas da pesquisa por parte dos dois grupos de pesquisadores envolvidos, os de Educação Química e os de Terminologia.</p>
