SynopsisPolyester waste was degraded with ethanol, n-propanol, and benzyl alcohol in an autoclave at 280°C under pressure to give seven unknown compounds. The products of each reaction were isolated by using column chromatography and were identified on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral data.
SynopsisPenetration in polyester chips of different manufacturers and yarn (undrawn and drawn) was studied between 323 and 423 K on a thermomechanical system (TMS-2) using a penetration kit. It was observed that the penetration of the probe varied in the case of chips from manufacturer to manufacturer. The undrawn and drawn yarns from different batches and also within the same batch showed a clear variation in penetration curve, which may be attributed to the degree of crystallization. The same technique can be utilized for an assessment of the quality of yarn in continuous production and for differentiating the manufacturing process of polyester chips.
SynopsisCopolyamides tmsed on c-caprolactam and AH salt were prepared by copolymerization of various combinations of c-caprolactam and AH salt in the presence of a cationic resin. In tcrnis of adhesivity towards metals they have proved their superiority over nylon 6, nylon 6, 6, and the copolyamides of c-caprolactam and AH salt, prepared in presence of water. Adhesive property of t h e copolyamide was found to be increased with increasing proportion of A H salt in the combinations. c-Caprolactam (1 pnrt) and AIl salt ( 5 parts) in presence of a cationic resin (0.55%) were copolymerized to give a best performing copolyamide: yield 93%. nip 23ZoC, relative viscosity 2.42, and shear tensile strength 620 kg/in.2
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
