This study aims to reveal the use of directive speech acts of multicultural students studying in Malang City in the context of politeness. Qualitative descriptive is the method used in this study. Five tribes are the subject of this research, namely Java, Sumba, Flores, Dayak, and Madura. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The data obtained were analyzed based on how they used directive demand speech act in different situations in the realm of family, friendship, and school and how they minimized the FTA that might occur when facing different speech partners. The results of this study indicate that from the four aspects that become the parameters of this study, multicultural students in using directive speech acts have the following pattern. In the aspect of direct/indirect speech acts, in three different domains, all multicultural students use direct speech acts and the honorific aspect. The use of hedge aspects is more widely used in the campus domain. Meanwhile, in the aspect of speech level, only Javanese and Madurese students use it.
AbstrakPerencanaan komunikasi merupakan aktivitas yang tak terpisahkan dalam program komunikasi maupun program-program pembangunan yang memerlukan dukungan komunikasi, termasuk dalam mem-branding Kota. Sebagai salah satu bentuk kegiatan memasarkan Kota, aktivitas ini tidak luput dari perencanaan komunikasi. Oleh karena itu, tulisan ini akan mengkaji aktivitas perencanaan komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah Kota Palembang dalam mengkampanyekan program Palembang EMAS.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, yang berusaha menggambarkan atau mendeskripsikan objek yang diteliti berdasarkan fakta yang ada di lapangan. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan asisten pemerintah bidang Humas dan protokol, Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah Tingkat II Kota Palembang, dan Dinas Komunikasi dan Informatika. Studi ini menemukan bahwa perencanaan komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh Pemerintah Kota Palembang dalam kampanye Palembang EMAS dilakukan melibatkan dua hal pokok, yaitu (1) organisasi yang menggerakkan kegiatan dalam hal ini pemerintah Kota dengan melakukan analisis dan riset, perumusan kebijakan, perencanaan program pelaksanaan dan kegiatan komunikasi; (2) publik yang menjadi sasaran kegiatan yang terdiri atas respon dan evaluasi dari masyarakat. The purpose of this research is the digitization of regional languages. The form of technology that will be developed is a digital conservation and revitalization program. There are 2 stages in this program: 1) the development stage, namely the development of language learning applications. Inspired by the Duolingo application, the application for learning international languages, the application is the local version by prioritizing the values of local wisdom of the local language being studied. The basic concept of this application is to document regional languages by teaching them. This application is designed to be accessible to anyone who wants to know or learn a certain regional language through a smartphone. The features in this application product will focus on four language skills with tiered levels, each of which is presented in different themes. There will be several choices of regional languages that can be learned, the final target of developing this application is to document all regional languages of the archipelago. As an initial project, this program will digitize two regional languages in East Java, namely Javanese and Madurese. 2) socialization, education, and promotion that will be carried out in several forms of activities targeting all communities at all levels. On campus, the target is to form a community that cares about the preservation of regional languages among academics; Among students to grow the importance of preserving regional languages and make applications that will be developed as a reference to support the teaching of regional languages in schools; and society.

The research is qualitative descriptive which the source of data is obtained from observation of the implementation of multicultural based learning in Speaking II class as well as interviews of students and lecturer. The result shows that the students' level of tolerance increases significantly after the implementation. there are four indicators which supports this claim; first based on the result of racial bias test taken by the students before and after the implementation, which the result shows significant improvement of score,; second, based on observations on every meeting focusing on four skills that become the emphasize of the study. Those skills are: multiculturalism skill, diversity skill, pluralism skill, and relativism skill. The students' four skills are increased after the implementation of the model. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui implementasi Prinsip Kerja Sama Grice pada mahasiswa multikultural yang belajar di Malang, berdasarkan pelanggaran, pembatasan, dan implikatur yang ditimbulkan. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data diperoleh dari dialog yang muncul dalam interaksi sehari-hari antara mahasiswa multikultural di dalam dan di luar kelas di IKIP Budi Utomo Malang, yang didominasi oleh enam suku, yaitu: Jawa, Madura, Dayak/Pontianak, Sumba Flores, dan Makasar. Dari hasil penelitian ini diketahui bahwa: (a) pelanggaran Maksim Kuantitas memiliki implikatur: penekanan, penolakan, dan dalam situasi di mana pembicara dan mitra bicara memiliki referensi yang sama dan anggapan yang sesuai; (b) Pelanggaran Kualitas Maxim memiliki implikatur: Menerka-nerka karena tidak yakin tentang informasi yang disampaikan, basa-basi untuk kesopanan, dan berkelit; (c) Pelanggaran Maksim Relevansi memiliki implikatur: penegasan pernyataan atau pendapat dari mitra tutur; (d) Pola Pelanggaran Maksim Cara bermotif: menjaga pembicaraan berlangsung lebih lama; (e) Pembatasan Maksim Kuantitas berpola: memberikan kesan kepada mitra bicara bahwa informasi yang diberikan mungkin tidak cukup lengkap; (f) Pembatasan Maksim Kualitas berpola: penutur tidak bertanggung jawab atas kebenaran kata-katanya; (g) Pembatasan Maksim Relevansi berpola: mengubah topik pembicaraan tanpa menyinggung mitra tutur; (h) Dalam penelitian ini tidak ada kasus Pembatasan Maksim Cara karena data yang diperoleh terbatas.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of multicultural based learning with Multiple Perspectives Approach in suppressing intolerance among students. The result shows that there is a significant influence of multicultural learning models with multiple perspective approaches to students’ tolerance levels: 4.56 (control) and 6.28 (experimental). The tolerance level of students after applying multicultural based learning methods with multiple perspective approaches is better (X_A1n = 6.76) compared to the tolerance level of students using conventional learning methods (X_A2 = 4.11). The students’ four values emphasized on the implementation of multicultural based learning methods are increased.
Dalam mengekspresikan gagasan, seseorang tidak hanya menghasilkan ujaran semata, melainkan juga melakukan sebuah tindakan melalui ujaran-ujaran yang dihasilkan tersebut, fenomena ini lazim disebut tindak tutur. Di sisi lain, flm adalah potret nyata dari kehidupan sehari-hari yang tertuang dalam bingkai cerita yang divisualkan. Dari sebuah flm penonton dapat memperoleh hiburan sekaligus nilai-nilai yang bisa diaplikasikan ke dalam hidup mereka. Objek dari penelitian ini adalah bahasa yang digunakan oleh tokoh utama flm “The Sounds of Music”. Film ini berjenre musikal, para tokoh dalam flm ini mengkomunikasikan gagasan dan pemikiran mereka melalui lirik-lirik lagu, dan hal inilah yang membuat flm ini menarik untuk diteliti. Bagaimana tindak tutur yang dihasilkan oleh para tokoh utama flm ini dalam komunikasi mereka dan tindak perlokusi yang mungkin akan muncul adalah fokus dari penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode diskriptif kualitatif dan menggunakan kerangka berpikir teori tindak tutur yang digagas oleh Austin untuk menganalisa data. Berdasarkan temuan-temuan dalam penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: Dari lima jenis ujaran tindak ilokusi, terdapat hanya empat jenis tindak ilokusi yang digunakan oleh para tokoh utama di dalam flm. Detail dari temuan ini adalah sebagai berikut: terdapat empat data yang termasuk kasus direktif yang kesemuanya dalam bentuk ujaran perintah yang memiliki tindak perlikusi menjalankan perintah; tiga kasus ujaran komisif dalam bentuk expresi penolakan, yang memunculkan tindak perlokusi pihak yang tertolak akan membatalkan tindakan yang ia lakukan; empat kasus representatif dalam bentuk pernyataan dan penggambaran; dan yang terakhir dua kasus ekspresif dalam bentuk memberi selamat yang memunculkan rasa nyaman sebagai tindak perlokusinya.
This research seeks to develop an English for Transportation (EnTra) application that can help cadets to master English transportation more easily. The design of this research is the ADDIE model development research. The following steps describe the research and development. (1). Conduct a needs analysis through preliminary research activities.(2). Planning in the form of product and participant determination.(3). The product to be developed is the English for Transportation (EnTra) application. (4). Expert validation in the form of expert / practitioner ratings of the Entra application includes format, language, illustrations and content, as well as multimedia experts, because the product produced is an android application. (5). Implementation of the product to the real target. (6) Product evaluation. The results of this study indicate that, there are seven aspects of assessment given by media expert, material expert and cadets as the aplication's users. The results of the assessment of the three parties indicate that the application developed has been tested and categorized as very feasible. This means that EnTra's idea of bringing class into one single application that can be accessed anywhere and at any time brings a different atmosphere for cadets in learning English transportation. The limited time they have in learning is overcome by this application.Sebagai suatu pendekatan baru dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, ESP memiliki ciri dan karakteristik yang berbeda dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris umum (General English). Karakteristik ini tentu juga berbeda secara jelas dan significant dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang lain, seperti English as Second Language (ESL) atau English as A foreign Language (EFL). Hutchinson dkk. (1987) menyatakan bahwa ada empat karakteristik utama ESP sebagai pendekatan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yaitu: (a) ESP dirancang untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pembelajar, (b) substansi dan isi ESP dikaitkan dengan tema dan topik pada bidang ilmu tertentu, (c) berpusat pada bentuk kebahasaan yang sesuai dengan aktivitas dan bidang ilmu atau pekerjaan yang dimiliki, (d) ESP berbeda dengan General English (GE).
