Leader’s personality considerably influences the behavior of employees and is perhaps one of the most important predictor of their job performance. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the personality-performance paradigm in the context of emerging economies. Personality was assessed through big five traits, namely openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. While task performance attribute of job performance was considered as dependent variable. Stratified sampling technique was deployed to gather data from 149 SMEs belonging to diversified business sectors operating in the industrial city of Gujranwala, Pakistan. Cronbach’s alpha test endorsed the consistency of survey questionnaire, and multiple regression analysis was used to test hypotheses. All of the personality traits, with the exception of neuroticism, are found to be valid predictors of employee job performance, though the degree and significance of correlation varies. The study contributes to the enhanced understanding of the personality-performance relationship and highlights the desirable personality inventories of potential leaders and entrepreneurs. Broader practical implications and recommendations for future research bring the discussion to the close.
<p class="Abstract">Knowledge Management (KM) is widely discussed by researcher and attracts many enterprisers to extract, dispense and use information in a systematic way under Knowledge Management System (KMS). New technology adoption within the knowledge management system is one of the core issue, identified by researcher and underlined as future research agenda. Cloud computing becomes the most adoptable choice for enterprisers to reduce infrastructure and maintenance cost by shifting business on the cloud. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are more enthusiastic about knowledge management due to its primary goal of knowledge creation and sharing. Cloud based knowledge management attract higher education institutions by changing the educational method and objectives due to innovative trends in technology. This exploratory research based on literature review for cloud-based knowledge management, targeting higher education institutions. This study highlights the benefits and challenges associated with cloud-based knowledge management system and its impact on knowledge.</p>
Introduction The personality of a human being consists of his behavior, cognition, emotional abilities, and interaction with his surroundings. The personality of an individual is modified by his ability for social perception, life experiences, and training. The pattern of study in which a person acquires education has a great influence on their personality. Objective To compare the personality traits and academic performance of boarders and non-boarders studying in a medical university. Material and methods It is a comparative, descriptive cross-sectional study done at Rawalpindi Medical University, Pakistan. The duration of the study was from January 2019 to April 2019. A questionnaire was randomly distributed among the students of Rawalpindi Medical University and filled under supervision. The questionnaire had two parts: (1) Academic performance information and (2) Big Five inventory (BFI-40). Only MBBS students of Rawalpindi Medical University were included. For statistical analysis, the independent t-test was applied using the Windows IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences Version 22 (SPSS, IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, US). The statistically significant value was taken as 0.05. Results Out of 300 questionnaires distributed, 287 were properly filled, giving a response rate of 95.6%. The Cronbach's alpha value was .750. The mean age was 20.87±1.344. There were 216 (75.1%) male and 71 (24.9%) females. One-hundred eighty-three (63.8%) were boarders and 104 (36.2%) were non-boarders. The mean scores of extraversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness were higher for boarders while the mean scores of neuroticism and openness were higher for non-boarders. High average percentages in professional exams were common in non-boarders while boarders were taking more supplementary exams comparatively. Conclusion Self-discipline, surgency from external activities/situations, and getting along with others are common traits among boarders. On the other hand, non-boarders are more creative but emotionally unstable. The academic status of boarders is comparatively poor. Thus, the hostel administration should be particularly concerned about the activities of boarders, and parents should be aware of their child's academic status. Teachers should pay special attention to the character development of students.
The education sector is now necessitated to align itself with the latest innovative technological trends in the industry to be competitive while transforming database management practices. The Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are currently using cloud-based applications at varied implementation levels while others are following the shifting trends. On-demand availability of consolidated information is a critical success factor to perform decision-making activities; as a result, quite a bit of research work has been performed in this realm. The study is aimed to propose an efficient framework that is capable of extracting the desired information from an educational setup intended to be used for decision-making purposes over cloud infrastructure. The framework focuses on addressing all the desired queries to be used for administrative and decision-making purposes. Further, different institutions will be benefited from enhanced and efficient decision-making with high accuracy and to boost inter and intra institutions' knowledge sharing tasks. In conclusion, on the premise of the decision-making architecture, a cloud-based knowledge management reference prototype framework has been created and implemented to verify the outcomes for one of the public universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
