Spontaneous emissions from fluorescent materials have potential applications in solar energy conversion, [1] biomedical imaging, [2] biosensing, [3] and chemical sensing. [4] Fluorescent emissions occur
High current, short length nitrogen ion beam pulses emanating from a low energy (1.8 kJ) Mather type plasma focus device are utilized for room temperature surface nitriding of aluminium specimens. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy and microhardness are used to study the surfaces of untreated and treated specimens. The surface hardness of the ion implanted specimens is found to improve by 300%. XRD studies reveal that the increase in microhardness is caused by the formation of cubic aluminium nitride phase.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
