This is an educational Research and Development (R and D) aimed at developing Islamic-based reading instructional materials for students of Islamic Education Department. The phases of the research were simplified into three phases: the exploration phase, the model development phase, and the model testing phase. In the exploration phase, an evaluation was conducted to describe the existence and quality of the present reading materials. During the model development phase, a draft of Islamic-based reading instructional materials was designed and revised based on the inputs from FGD and expert evaluators. Try out of the draft model was also conducted in this phase. In the model testing phase, the draft was experimentally tested to see the effectiveness of the product in developing the students’ reading comprehension. This research revealed that the present reading materials did not accommodate the learners needs to learn English using Islamic materials. Therefore, the new reading materials in the forms of Islamic-based reading instructional materials need to be developed. The experimental research proved that the students taught using the designed Islamic-based reading instructional materials performed better in reading comprehension test compared to the students who were taught using the materials taken from the present reading materials. The results of the test indicated that the mean scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group. This difference was analyzed statistically using t-test to interpret the difference. The analysis revealed that the Sig. (2-tailed) was .021 which was smaller than the level of significance scores .05 (.012 .05). This statistically indicated that the different mean scores between the experimental and the control groups were the result of the different treatment given to the two groups. Thus, the use of Islamic-based reading materials influenced the reading comprehension achievement of the students.
In recent years, mobile-assisted language learning has been on the rise as an instructional approach. While some innovative media platforms have been highly studied, Thus, this study focused on how students' readiness and learning outcomes the use of mobile phones to facilitate individualized instruction in public speaking as part of an English as a Foreign Language course. Data were collected from (n=42) students in non-English department classes who participated in this study. They were asked to answer an online questionnaire that surveyed their readiness and outcomes using Google Foam in their speaking skills. All participants performed two class projects aimed at aiding them in exploring mobile-assisted language learning using their own mobile devices. However, the students self-reported some opportunities and benefits for English Foreign Language Learners (EFLL) among these MALL users. The results of this study suggest that EFL-speaking students' readiness affects mobile-assisted language learning. Teachers should consider students' motivation, attitudes, and technology skills when creating mobile-assisted language learning programs. Instructors should also train and motivate pupils to use mobile-assisted language learning resources by improving their technology skills. Furthermore, need for further technical support and facilitating students' mastery of speaking performance.
The current study aimed at developing English instructional materials for listening and speaking as additional learning sources. The research was conducted at Universitas Islam Negeri Mataram, Indonesia. The population was university students of semester three in academic year 2018/2019. There were 48 students as the respondents of 20 questionnaires. The current study followed Research and Development Procedures proposed by Borg & Gall (1979). It involves (1) a preliminary stage and collects information, (2) planning, (3) develop of product, (4) expert validation, (5) small-scale and large-scale field tried-out the students. The result of the research has shown that Indonesian students have confirmed the need for listening and speaking English materials. Since the existing materials used in learning had weaknesses, including the lack of opportunity for listening and speaking, the researchers have developed the TEFL materials to meet the standard. After being validated by the experts, and tried-out to the students, the developed TEFL materials have been able to improve students’ speaking ability.
The purpose of this study is to find out the improvement of English learning results of Mataram State Islāmic University students majoring in Da'kwah management (MD) by utilizing task-based learning strategies during covid-19. This study is a type of class action study with research subjects a student's second semester of Da'kwah Faculty. Data collection by way of in-depth interviews and direct observations. The research method used in research is descriptive qualitative. This research data includes the results of the study results and student responses regarding task-based learning strategies. Techniques of data collection in learning are carried out through tests in the form of test questions Objective. The data is descriptively analyzed using percentages. Analysis of learning process data obtained from observation and interviews are conducted qualitatively. The results of the research showed significant improvement in students' Englishspeaking skills Task-based online learning. Task-based English learning is effective in improving students' English-speaking skills.
