This study aims to investigate the application of service quality theory to explain and predict the satisfaction, trust, and motivation of participants at leadership education and training programs of echelon 3 and 4 held by Human Resource Development Board Province in Indonesia. This study uses purposive sampling and survey methods to generate sampling, which consists of 480 respondents from some of the main provinces in Indonesia. The data are analyzed using Variance Based Structural Equation Modeling -Partial Least Square due to the existence of formative indicators for service quality. The result shows that five dimensions of service quality have a positive and significant effect on participants' satisfaction, which, in turn, impacts their trust and motivation. Responsiveness is one of service quality dimensions with the greatest influence on participants' satisfaction. Data collected in this study are limited to the context of leadership education and training programs of echelon 3 and 4. Thus, further research may involve other education and training programs. The results of this study may serve as a guideline for other education and training providers in other provinces or places of Indonesia to increase their service quality, which will impact satisfaction, trust, and motivation of participants.
AbstrakMengidentifikasi tantangan bagi guru dalam mengembangkan profesionalisme mereka dalam mengajar untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Keterbatasan fasilitas pendukung dan minimnya peran serta masyarakat dalam mendukung program pemerintah mempengaruhi kinerja guru dalam mengajar. Fokusnya ditujukan pada pengembangan profesionalisme mengajar dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru SMP di Makassar dalam menghadapi kendala yang muncul di kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui studi kasus untuk mengidentifikasi hambatan profesionalisme dalam mengajar. 36 sampel untuk kuesioner terbuka dan sembilan di antaranya dipilih secara purposive untuk diwawancarai. Data dianalisis dengan pengkodean berdasarkan tema yang terkait dengan kendala dalam pengelolaan pengajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan empat kendala yang dialami oleh guru dalam mengembangkan profesionalisme mereka, yaitu kendala pada buku pelajaran dan lembar kerja siswa, penggunaan laboratorium sekolah, media berbasis TIK, dan siswa itu sendiri. Identifikasi ini dapat mendorong masyarakat dan orang tua untuk membiayai penyelenggaraan pendidikan dan pengembangan profesionalisme dalam mengajar serta meningkatkan kreatifitas guru untuk bekerja secara efektif. The limitation of facilities at school and the low participation of society in supporting the government programs influence teacher performance in teaching. The focus was addressed on the development of teaching professionalism in improving knowledge and skills of Junior High School teachers in Makassar based on the barriers in the class. This study employed qualitative methods through a case study to identify the barriers of professionalism in teaching. 36 samples for open-ended questionnaire and nine of them are selected purposively to be interviewed. The data was analyzed by coding based on themes related to constraints in teaching management. The results showed four obstacles experienced by teachers in developing their professionalism, namely constraints on textbooks and student worksheets, school laboratory usage, ICT-based media, and the students themselves. The identification could encourage the community and parents to finance the operational of education and the development of professionalism in teaching also to improve teacher creativity to work effectively.
The research aimed at investigating the improvement of students’ interest in studying physics to students of class XI IPA-1 at SMA Negeri 1 Lappariaja of Bone by utilizing outdoor study method in teaching-learning management. This study was a classroom action research consisted of two cycles of teaching-learning management which covered: (1) the planning, (2) the action stage, (3) the observation stage, and (4) the reflection stage. The collected data covered: (1) the data result of studying physics before conducting the treatment, (2) the data of students’ interests in studying physics, (3) the data result of studying physics of cycle I and II, and (4) the data result of observation/teachers’ notes on each of research cycles. Those data were obtained through questionnaire on the students’ interests in studying physics, the test result of physics cycle I and II, and students’ observation sheets. The data then was analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The result of the research shows that there is improvement in studying physics both in cycles I and II to students at SMA Negeri 1 Lappariaja of Bone, the average of the mastery level in studying physics is in high category, and the readiness, the willingness and students’ activeness in following the learning process was improved. The analysis indicated that there was improvement of students’ interests in studying physics at SMA Negeri 1 Lappariaja after conducting the teaching-learning management by utilizing Outdoor study method.Keywords: Outdoor Study Method; Kinematics Physics; Interest in Learning Physics; Learning Outcomes Physics.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatkan minat dan hasil belajar Fisika siswa kelas XI IPA-1 SMA Negeri 1 Lappariaja Kabupaten Bone dengan menggunakan metode Outdoor Study dalam pengelolaan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini termasuk Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), yang terdiri dari 2 siklus pengelolaan pembelajaran yang mencakup: (1) perencanaan, (2) tahap pelaksanaan tindakan, (3) tahap observasi, dan (4) tahap refleksi. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi: (1) data tentang hasil belajar Fisika sebelum pelaksanaan tindakan, (2) data tentang minat belajar Fisika siswa, (3) data tentang hasil belajar Fisika siklus I dan siklus II, dan (4) data hasil observasi/catatan-catatan guru pada setiap siklus penelitian. Data tersebut diperoleh melalui angket tentang minat belajar Fisika siswa, tes hasil belajar Fisika sebelum pelaksanaan tindakan, tes hasil belajar Fisika siklus I dan siklus II, serta lembar observasi belajar siswa. Data tersebut selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar Fisika siswa SMA Negeri 1 Lappariaja Kabupaten Bone baik pada siklus I maupun pada siklus II, rata-rata tingkat penguasaan materi belajar Fisika berada pada kategori tinggi, dan kesiapan, kesungguhan dan keaktifan siswa mengikuti proses pembelajaran semakin meningkat. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan minat dan hasil belajar Fisika siswa SMA Negeri 1 Lappariaja setelah dilakukan pengelolaan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan metode Outdoor Study.Kata kunci: Metode Outdoor Study; Fisika Kinematika; Minat Belajar Fisika; Hasil Belajar Fisika.
ABSTRAKPenelitian ini mengidentifikasi usaha guru fisika untuk belajar serta konten yang harus dipelajari pada suatu program pengembangan profesional. Penelitian dilakukan kepada guru fisika di 17 SMPN yang ada di Kota Makassar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan instrumen pengumpulan datanya menggunakan kuesioner dengan pertanyaan terbuka, wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Sementara metode kuantitatif sederhana digunakan dengan kuesioner dimana 36 guru fisika berpartisipasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pengetahuannya, guru fisika melakukannya dengan berbagai cara: belajar mandiri, bertukar pikiran dengan sesama guru, belajar melalui internet, mengikuti program pelatihan dan kursus-kursus, dan melanjutkan pendidikan. Selanjutnya didapatkan pula bahwa sebagian besar guru fisika (78%) menginginkan ICT sebagai konten yang harus dipelajari dalam mengembangkan profesionalnya. Meskipun banyak juga guru yang memilih konten materi pengajaran, konten kurikulum dan pengajaran, dan konten pengetahuan pedagogi sebagai alternatif kedua. The study was conducted to physics teacher from 17 junior high schools in Makassar. This study used qualitative approach where several data collection methods such as questionnaire, interview, observation, and documentation were employed. A simple quantitative method utilized where questionnaire distributed and 36 physics teachers participated. The results showed that for physics teachers their competency can be raised by: self-learning, involve in teachers discussion program, accesing the internet, futher training, and continuing education. Moreover, most physics teachers (78%) want that information and communication technology as the main content to be learned by them. Besides, many teachers are choosing the content of teaching materials, curriculum and teaching, and pedagogical content knowledge as other alternatives.
