The rapid degradation of today’s environment has required the governments and organizations to introduce effective countermeasures. Governments have enforced green policies, and organizations have drawn on these policies to implement environmentally friendly workplace practices. The success of these practices is very much dependent on the employees and the extent of their green behavior. As such, there is a need to determine whether green behavior can be positively influenced by other variables. One of the suggested influencing variables is green human resource management (HRM). Another variable with the potential mediating effect is personal moral norms (PMN). Also, there is a need to examine the interplay of green HRM, employee green behavior (EGB), and PMN within the context of higher education institutions (HEIs) as they also take responsibility for protecting the environment. It is believed that to date, studies of this nature have not involved academics at HEIs in Malaysia. This study aims to examine the mechanism by which green HRM affects EGB of academics at Malaysian HEIs through PMN as mediator. Data were collected through a cross-sectional quantitative survey among 425 academics at five research universities in Malaysia. The analysis was performed using Smart PLS version 3.2.8. There was a positive significant relationship between green HRM and PMN and a positive significant relationship between PMN and EGB. Hence, green HRM had an effect on EGB through the mediating role of PMN. However, there was no significant direct relationship between green HRM and EGB. Other studies have investigated the effects of several mediating variables in the relationship between green HRM and EGB; however, the effect of one variable—PMN—has not been examined. This study, as it investigates the vital aspect of behavioral formation, is believed to be the first study that examines the mediating role of PMN in the interplay between green HRM and EGB of academics. The theoretical and practical implications are discussed in this study.

This study is conducted to examine the perception of public servants towards the fairness of performance appraisal and its effect on organizational commitment. This study also examined the intermediary effects of satisfaction in these two relationships. The data for this study were obtained through a survey among 425 employees of government agencies. The findings show that perceived fairness of performance appraisal has influenced their commitment towards organization through the mediating factor of satisfaction. This finding is consistent with the efforts by the government to establish a more transparent and more accountable decision-making process in an organization. In conclusion, to improve performance evaluation to be more effective in influencing organizational commitment, satisfaction of the civil servants as well as fair performance management within the organization should be given priority.

Purpose This study aims to investigate the drivers of three main eco-innovation types within the manufacturing small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Egypt, as well as to examine the impact of these types in sustaining competitive advantage. Design/methodology/approach The positivist methodological paradigm is adopted in this study, with 183 valid questionnaires collected from the owners and executives of manufacturing SMEs. The SmartPLS has been used to analyse the data. Findings Results show that internal drivers (organisational capabilities, absorptive capacity and strategically environmental orientation) affect eco-innovation types. External drivers (regulation, eco-friendly products demand and competitive advantage) do not significantly affect eco-innovation types. The results also reveal that both eco-organisational and eco-process innovations significantly affect sustainable competitive advantage. Practical implications This study has presented valuable insights for owners and executives of SMEs and policymakers in the business and manufacturing industry. Originality/value This study has presented valuable insights for literature on eco-innovation, owners and executives of SMEs and policymakers manufacturing industry to depth-understanding of drivers of eco-innovation types. in addition, the role of eco-innovation types in sustaining competitive advantage for SMEs has been a significant contribution to eco-innovation literature.

Entrepreneurs not only create benefits through the expansion and the development of economic and business industry, it also creates challenges for emerging micro-entrepreneurs to effectively compete in an environment characterised by multitude of challenges. The question is whether the development of micro-entrepreneurship industry is a progressive approach that can motivate the small and medium entrepreneurs to eradicate poverty. This paper is a deliberate attempt to revisit the essential concept and practice of micro-entrepreneurship in small and medium industry as well as its role in eradicating poverty in Malaysian. The Malaysian government has launched the New Economic Policy to eradicate hardcore poverty, restructuring employment and developing the rural area of Malaysia. It has been determined that the development of micro-entrepreneurship significantly contributed to small and medium industry and poverty eradication. Furthermore, the success of poverty eradication has significantly created awareness among micro-entrepreneurs in small and medium industry. In this paper, a comprehensive model of micro-entrepreneurship strategy in small and medium industry in eradicating poverty has been constructed with the aim of assisting the Malaysia government in developing their socio-economic policies.
