As glândulas adrenais ou suprarrenais estão situadas nos polos superiores dos rins e pesam certa de 6 a 11 gramas. São divididas em duas partes: o córtex e a medula.Por possuírem seu próprio sistema de suporte sanguíneo e serem glândulas muito vascularizadas (formam o plexo subcapsular) podem ser acometidas mais facilmente por metástases, infecções ou doenças autoimunes. No caso de infecções como as causadas pela histoplasmose, essas massas fúngicas simulam massas neoplásicas.O quadro clínico causado por essas infecções geralmente se inicia com perda de peso (sem intenção), fadiga, desânimo, hiperpigmentação da pele, hipotensão ortostática, hipoglicemia, náuseas e vômitos. O diagnóstico se faz por meio de exames de imagem, nas quais é possível observar massas fúngicas nas adrenais, sendo confirmado através da tomografia computadorizada. O tratamento é realizado com o uso de antifúngicos, especialmente itraconazol.
Posterior Reversível (PRES), é caracterizada por sintomas neurológicos agudos, e esta relacionada a autorregulação cerebral desordenada e disfunção endotelial. Se apresenta comumente com cefaleia, rebaixamento do nível de consciência, distúrbios visuais, vômitos, convulsões e sinais motores. A tomografia computadorizada e a ressonância magnética, auxiliam no diagnóstico, sendo encontrado normalmente edema vasogênico, da substância branca e cinzenta, e especialmente nas regiões parieto-occipitais, podendo acometer outras áreas. Na maioria dos casos, a PRES se resolve de forma espontânea com melhora clínica e radiológica, mas pode ser parte do tratamento o uso de anti-hipertensivos, anticonvulsivantes e cessação de medicamentos agressores. As alterações são reversíveis se detectadas precocemente, porém em alguns casos, pode ocorrer progressão dos achados e até mesmo morte. Este trabalho apresenta um relato de caso clínico de uma paciente de 29 anos, no puerpério recente, que se apresentou com sintomas compatíveis de PRES.
A osteoporose é uma afecção caracterizada pela redução da resistência óssea e possui diversos impactos agravantes da saúde pública. Objetivos: analisar a prevalência de sobrepeso e obesidade em mulheres com osteoporose em uma clínica privada na cidade de Santa Maria/RS, a fim de elucidar a correlação do IMC acima da normalidade com a menor incidência de osteoporose. Metodologia: Tratase de um estudo transversal com base em densitometrias ósseas do período de 2019 e 2020, analisados sob viés quantitativo e qualitativo. Resultados: Através de uma amostra de 1017 pacientes, 97,1% contabilizaram o sexo feminino, com peso normal em mais de 50% da amostra. Não se observou a correlação da proteção da obesidade em relação a osteoporose, visto que a maioria dos pacientes que possuíam osteoporose diagnosticada não possuíam obesidade, configurando-se na faixa de sobrepeso, peso normal e baixo peso.
