A osteoporose é uma afecção caracterizada pela redução da resistência óssea e possui diversos impactos agravantes da saúde pública. Objetivos: analisar a prevalência de sobrepeso e obesidade em mulheres com osteoporose em uma clínica privada na cidade de Santa Maria/RS, a fim de elucidar a correlação do IMC acima da normalidade com a menor incidência de osteoporose. Metodologia: Tratase de um estudo transversal com base em densitometrias ósseas do período de 2019 e 2020, analisados sob viés quantitativo e qualitativo. Resultados: Através de uma amostra de 1017 pacientes, 97,1% contabilizaram o sexo feminino, com peso normal em mais de 50% da amostra. Não se observou a correlação da proteção da obesidade em relação a osteoporose, visto que a maioria dos pacientes que possuíam osteoporose diagnosticada não possuíam obesidade, configurando-se na faixa de sobrepeso, peso normal e baixo peso.
