Abstract. The objective of this study is to examine the influence of self-efficacy on entrepreneurial intention amongst engineering students from Public Higher Educational Institution (PHEI) in Malaysia. This study employs a quantitative method using the questionnaire instrument. Data is obtained from 345 respondents comprising of final year students from various public institutes of higher learning in Malaysia. Findings revealed that the students from these public institutes demonstrated a high interest in entrepreneurial intention (mean=3.67, SD=.54) and a moderate level of sel-efficacy (mean=3.22, SD=.71). Findings also pointed out that self-efficacy is significantly associated with entrepreneurial intention (β=.45, p<.01) as exhibited by the engineering students in these institutes. These findings further reinforces an element of Bandura Social Learning Theory which states that self-efficacy is able to influence the entrepreneurial intention amongst engineering students in public institutions. As a result, public instituitions can emphasize strategies to increase the degree of self-efficacy amongst students to enhance the level of entrepreneurial intention. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are also discussed along with recommendations for the further improvement of institution management.
Abstract. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationships between attitude towards behaviour, subjective norm and entrepreneurial intention among engineering students from Public Higher Educational Institution (PHEI) in Malaysia. This research is carried out by using the quantitative method (questionnaire). Data are gathered from 345 respondents which consisted of the final year students from one PHEI in Malaysia. Results presented that entrepreneurial intention are positively associated with attitude towards behaviour (β=.62, p<.01) and subjective norm (β=.25, p<.01). Thus, it is confirmed that both factors of Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), namely attitude towards behaviour and subjective norm are significantly related to entrepreneurial intention among the engineering students in this institution. Elevating the degree of attitude towards behaviour and subjective norm are the best strategies to enhance the level of entrepreneurial intention among the engineering students in this institution. Theoretical and practical implications of the results are discussed. In this line, recommendations for the institution management are provided
As huge consumers of water and energy, healthcare sector have a significant environmental impact. The healthcare sector is accountable for answering countless the most dangerous effects of climate change and pollution, deadly environmental emissions and other greenhouse gases itself. This study aims to observe empirically the effect of healthcare expenditure and heath sectors growth on CO 2 during Covid 19 outbreak in Malaysia. As the world has awakened to the potential risks of Covid 19, there has been a massive effort to add capacity to the healthcare system rapidly. In Malaysia, apart from stressing the need for the public to strictly adhere to the Movement Control Order (MCO), the government an immediate boost in funding for healthcare services through initial stage fiscal policy response to Covid 19 outbreak. This research used Dynamic Panel Data Model also known as longitudinal study. This study explained Dynamic Panel Data System GMM Estimation model is fitting to interpret the outcome, indicate healthcare expenditure and healthcare growth on Covid-19, inflation rate and unemployment rate have significant relationship with CO 2 emission. Empirical findings suggest that CO 2 emissions policies reforms are required to channelize healthcare sector growth to a more government spending resulting from fiscal policy designed by the government of Malaysia. The regulators of other countries should pull out CO 2 emissions policies to achieve sustainable economic growth and health sector growth development. The results provide important information to allow comparisons of the health-care sector with other economic sectors in Malaysia and the global healthcare sector in terms of CO 2 emission. In particular, the results are intended to contribute to the understanding of the CO 2 emission of national healthcare systems so that policymakers, especially in low-income and middle-income countries, can develop relevant CO 2 emissions mitigation policies.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of students’ experience towards the development of alumni involvement and alumni loyalty in Malaysia. This study utilized the survey (questionnaire) method. Data are gathered from 347 respondents in one of the Public Higher Educational Institution (PHEI) in Malaysia. Results presented that students in this institution have low levels of alumni involvement (mean=1.23) and alumni loyalty (mean=1.76). Results also presented that in this institution, students’ experience is significantly related to alumni involvement (β=.42, p<.01) and alumni loyalty (β=.57, p<.01). This study contributed some new knowledge which can be channelled to all PHEIs in Malaysia to improve the level of alumni involvement and alumni loyalty. Good experience of students can be cultivated by improving several aspects on managerial side. Some recommendations to increase the level of students’ experience are discussed.
Purpose of study: This study is conducted to identify the relationships between job performance, work-life balance and organizational justice towards employee's career satisfaction from one of the manufacturing companies in the north of Malaysia. Methodology: The study is done by utilizing a random sample of 240 employees in the company. Type of investigation is a correlation study and it is cross-sectional on time horizon. The unit of analysis is an individual level; therefore, all employees in the company have chances to serve as the participants in this study. Data has been analysed from 148 respondents. Results: Results show significant and positive relationships between job performance, work-life balance and organizational justice towards employees' career satisfaction. Organizational justice is the most significant factor in career satisfaction in this study (β=.83, p=.00). Other factors such as job performance (β=.71, p=.00), and work-life balance (β=.71, p=.00) also positively correlated with employees’ career satisfaction. Implications/Applications: These significant results imply that managers should provide good elements of justice in the company to raise the level of their employee's career satisfaction. At the same time, the employees should maintain a higher level of job performance as well as to manage the good working life balance in them.
Generally, manufacturing capability is the important factor in running and developing business. Hence, this research is aimed to identifying the relationships of critical factors and make sure the companies can survive in the northern region of Malaysia. Those identified factors are training and manufacturing capabilities. Through the email survey, a total of 89 companies representing electrical and electronic industries had responded. The hypotheses involved were tested using correlation and regression techniques. The results of the study support all the hypotheses. The multiple regression analysis indicates that there are significant relationships among the factors on each criterion to manufacturing capabilities. While hierarchical multiple regression analysis was carried out to test the role of moderating in the relationship between independent variables with dependent variables. It is believed that results of this study will be beneficial for shareholders and directors of companies to apply these manufacturing capabilities.
This paper presents the modelling of the online partial discharge (PD) measurement of the medium voltage (MV) power cable. Recently, PD monitoring trends are rapidly increasing due to high demand on reliable systems. Degradation are mainly due to the presence of PD in the high voltage power equipment used. PD measurement is therefore a highly recommended task to early detection of the degradation insulation for high voltage (HV) equipment in order to avoid breakdowns. Real network modelling is necessary to improvise system design in order to find the efficiency in a real power system network. In this paper, modelling focuses on a real distribution network by applying Rogowski coil (RC) as a detection sensor to trigger PD activity. The simulation is performed to determine the functionality and reliability of the system with the RC application in the network. The analysis is performed in the ATP-EMTP and MATLAB Simulink software environments. In addition, this paper contributed to justify the approach of a simplified PD sensor and measurement system. This PD measurement system provides a complete solution in the context of condition-oriented monitoring for the ability to apply the RC to trigger PD activity in the power distribution network.
on job performance among employees from the manufacturing industry. Methodology: The data is analyzed through a survey (questionnaire) from 152 employees in one of the manufacturing companies in Penang, Malaysia. Hypotheses for all direct effects between the predictors (eg. interpersonal communication and task design) and criterion (job performance) are tested using regression analysis. Result: Results presented that employees in this company have a high level of job performance (µ = 3.70); interpersonal communication (µ =3.64) and task design (µ =3.66). Also, positive correlations are found between employees’ performance and interpersonal communication (r=.53, p=.00) and task design (r=.54, p=.00). Implications: Thus, this research provided a fruitful knowledge regarding the level of employees’ performance as well as their internal communication and task design; among employees in one of the manufacturing company in Malaysia.
