Background:The disease of the oral cavity is quite common in the society is periodontitis. The main cause of this condition is a certain bacterial infection found in dental plaque. In general, metronidazole gel will be given as additional therapy to treat bacterial colonization. Mangosteen peel extract gel contains xanthones and flavonoids which are known to be antibacterial and antiinflammatory. This research aims to specify the differences in the effectiveness of anti-inflammatory between mangosteen peel extract and metronidazole gel on fibroblast proliferation. Method: This is a laboratory experimental design using post-test only design consisted of 50% mangosteen peel extract gel group, 75% mangosteen peel extract gel group, 25% metronidazole gel group and metronidazole plus gel group. This research used male Wistar rats induced periodontitis by ligation for 7 days as samples. Results: The results reveal that there was a differences in effectiveness between the 4 groups against the proliferation of fibroblast were analyzed using One Way ANOVA with a significance of 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion:It can be concluded that there was differences in the effectiveness of mangosteen peel extract gel and metronidazole gel as anti-inflammatory on proliferation of fibroblast in periodontitis healing process.
Background: Professional education is carried out in a community with various forms and genuine services. A large number of demands on academic assignments and practical assignments that cause stress to students of the dental profession continuously will lead to a state of work fatigue or burnout syndrome, which is divided into three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and decreased self-performance. This study aims to analyze the occurrence of burnout syndrome based on the dimensions of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced self-performance. MethodS: This type of research uses an observational and cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique with simple total sampling obtained 168 respondents. Data collection was carried out by giving a questionnaire regarding burnout syndrome. Statistical analysis used a univariate analysis test and was described descriptively. ResultS: Test results on the dimensions of emotional exhaustion in the heavy category are 72.2%, in the medium category 25%, and in the mild category 2.8%. Conclusion:The results of the depersonalization dimension test were 13% in the severe category, 29.9% in the medium category, and 61.1% in the mild category. The test results for the dimensions of low personal accomplishment in the heavy category were 73.1%, in the medium category 22.2%, and the mild category 4.6%.
Background: WHO (World Health Organization) reported in 2004 the prevalence of KTD (adverse event) was 3.2-16.6% from studies in various countries. To minimize adverse event (KTD), WHO realizes this through the sixth goal of patient safety. Indonesia has also implemented the sixth goals of patient safety by issuing 2 health ministerial regulations number 1691/MENKES/PER/8/2011 concerning hospital patient safety. In addition to hospitals, health facilities such as dental clinics. Method: The research design used in this study was an observational study with a case study approach with a total of 142 research subjects. The research subjects included dentists and assistants at every dental clinic in Semarang City. The study was conducted by filling out a questionnaire consisting of 6 sections covering 6 patient safety. The data obtained were analyzed quantitatively by presenting the answers for each dimension and drawing conclusions Result: The results obtained all data related to the implementation of 6 patient safety goals by dentists and dental assistants at the Semarang City Clinic. At each point patient safety goals get different implementation results Conclusion:The conclusion is the value of applying 6 patient safety goals in order of highest to lowest results, namely the reduction of the risk of infection is very good, the increase in drug safety that needs to be watched out for is very good, the accuracy of patient identification is very good, the increase in effective communication is very good, the certainty of the exact location is good and the risk reduction The patient fell quite well
Background: Lemons consist of 5-8% citric acid, have a pH of around 2.74. Drinks that have a critical pH of 5.5 can be said to be acidic drinks. Acidic drinks have the potential to cause corrosion of teeth and dental materials, one of which is stainless steel orthodontic wire. Stainless steel orthodontic wire is easily corroded, the wire has a composition of 71% Iron (Fe), 18% Chromium (Cr), 8% Nickel (Ni), and 0.2% Carbon (C). Corrosion is caused by the presence of inorganic components that act as electrolyte media that can trigger electrochemical reactions.Method: Each sample was placed on each uninsulated petridish and labeled as a marker. This is done by inserting orthodontic wire which is immersed into the incubator for 3.5 hours at 37℃. Then the sample is taken and the separation between the sample and the solution is carried out. After that, the measurement of Iron (Fe) ions was carried out using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotomery tool.Result: The results showed the average release of Iron (Fe) ions in the experimental group of lemon juice with a concentration of 25% was 0.067mg/L, a concentration of 50% was 0.090mg/L and a concentration of 100% was 0.135mg/L. The test results obtained using the One Way Anova test showed that there was no significant difference (p>0.05).Conclusion: There was no significant difference in the release of Iron (Fe) ions in stainless steel orthodontic wires between experimental groups, and there was no effect of soaking lemon juice (Citrus Limon (L.)) on the release of Iron (Fe) ions in stainless steel orthodontic wires.
