Ecological and sustainable modes of transport should be the main modes of transport of goods. Promotion of railway freight transport is a key element of the EU policy. It is important to have an appropriate transport infrastructure to ensure sustainable competitive railway transport. It is able to ensure the most flexible mobility of the goods with the most advantageous parameters. This article analyses the current status as well the level of achievement of the objectives set by the European Commission. The article also deals with the established nine corridors for international railway freight transport. The aim is to introduce different measures that should help increase the efficiency and competitiveness of railway freight transport in the European countries under CIM transportation mode. When designing new corridors, it is necessary to analyse and optimize the current railway network. Optimization solutions are used to analyse the network analysis methods. In particular, the critical path method (CPM) and the critical chain method (CCM) are used.
Abstract. The article is focused on analysis and rating of the quality in the passenger railway transport logistics. At first is described the relationships between logistics and transport, logistical demands for transport and functions of logistics in rail transport. In the third chapter is explained quality assessment including the description of the quality indicators in passenger rail transport and making a proposal of the new methodology for this rating. Consequently this methodology is tested for chosen transport route and is concerned with monitoring quality of the transport routes in the railway network.
An effective functioning of logistic chains through the use of intermodal transport inevitably necessitates elimination of potential constraints, which have a negative impact on the logistic chains implementation. The objective of the contribution is the analysis, definition as well as classification of constraints related to the logistic chains in the intermodal transport, which should enable to compare levels of constraints in different alternatives of the logistic chain implementation. Based on the comparison of the restriction levels, it is possible to select a more convenient way of the logistic chain implementation. The defined relevant constraints are assessed using scientific methods. These identified constraints have formed the basis for establishing a methodology, which enables to determine weights of constraints as well as to compare their levels on the basis of specific needs of entities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
