Purpose: The ephemeral nature of fast fashion has influenced a change in people's thinking around the world about its production and consumption practices. This change in social behavior has been noticed, as people question the current way of consuming and provoke what has been called slow fashion. In this way, how is the adherence to 'practices' of fashion consumption, considered as slow fashion, by young women, an age group inserted in the millennials classification? Would it be a transition from fast to slow?Design/methodology/approach: This research has a qualitative approach, and its type is classified as exploratory, making use of the interview as a data collection technique.Findings: The results showed a steady consumption within the large retail of fast fashion due to low prices, convenience, and easy access. However, the interviewees showed trends in positioning for the consumption of slow products.Originality/value: It is concluded that fast fashion, until nowadays, is the concrete and hegemonic practice of fashion consumption, and it is not possible to view it as an ex-practice, since the three criteria of its classification still remain connected. As for slow fasion, this is in a proto-practice state, as component elements are identified, but connections have not yet been made.
Abstract:It is still common to find those in the teaching staff whose pedagogical practices are conservative, working with traditional perspective of reproduction of knowledge. In the past, Rogers (1972) has developed a list of 10 implicit assumptions in the educational programs were considered to be paradigms, which were supposed to be combated. Thus, this article aims to identify whether the current higher education teachers still believe in those assumptions. Therefore, it was carried out the field a research of exploratory nature, applied to 40 teachers of higher education. Furthermore, it was compared the teacher view according to the experience time; and the teachers' vision with the students' vision.
When ethical dilemmas of responsibility and conviction seem to involve any human fabric of the real world, Sophie's Choice (1982) is guided by an ethic of responsibility of one end would justify the means and she did not have the option to dodge out. Through an observational study of qualitative approach we aim to situate the dilemma suffered by the protagonist of the film within ethical parameters defined by Max Weber when he explains the ethics of responsibility and the conviction ethic. The contributions of this study go beyond the fictional and cinematic limits of Sophie's Choice to a time depicting ethical dilemmas that may be suffered by people in the real world and (unwanted) choices reflecting further consequences beyond the end of justifications and axiological assumptions. Thus many other hodiernal historical contexts are diverse, that even in different political, cultural, economic and social conditions, people find themselves forced to make choices that are not intended. This widens the scope of the film and brings the contemporary debate that remains current.
According to Sebrae (2013), Brazil’s Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) survival rate has been improving, with survival of 75.6% in the first two years of life. Many of the survivors, faces difficulties in the market, sometimes, opt for the use of illegal or unethical practices, but still not considered themselves "outlaws". In this context, the general objective was to identify the illegal or unethical practices used by SMEs to survive and the illegality perception of such practices. This is a descriptive and quantitative research type. The research process consisted of four steps: literature review, initial survey with 10 companies, pre-tests with seven companies, and field research with 102 MSEs. The field research was conducted through a questionnaire with 33 variables of illegal or unethical practices, where practices should be assessed by the respondents based on their competitors’ behavior, using a four-points Likert scale. We concluded that all investigated practices are being used to some degree by entrepreneurs, pointing out that for only four of the 33 practices the illegality perception appeared lower than the sense of legality, showing that the majority (29 of 33 practices) are used even though there is illegality awareness. Also, we conclude that five from the nine most used practices are related to tax avoidance.
