IntroduçãoO projeto inaugural a partir do qual a Academia Brasileira de Letras foi criada (em 1897, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro), assegurou-lhe uma compleição marcadamente androcêntrica, característica esta que permaneceu inalterada por décadas a fio. Com isso, a elegibilidade feminina, ainda que tenha integrado a pauta de algumas das incontáveis sessões acadêmicas, foi mantida fora de cogitação, precisamente durante os oitenta primeiros anos de sua existência, ora em decorrência de um acordo tácito -inicialmente estabelecido entre seus membros fundadores, mas logo transformado em legado -, ora respaldada pelo Regimento Interno. Conforme o Art. 2º do Estatuto da Academia Brasileira de Letras: [...] só podem ser membros efetivos da Academia os brasileiros que tenham, em qualquer dos gêneros de literatura, publicado obras de reconhecido mérito ou, fora desses gêneros, livro de valor literário. As mesmas condições, menos a de nacionalidade, exigem-se para os membros correspondentes.Além disso, o art. 30 do Regimento Interno da agremiação (que, nas edições posteriores a 1951, corresponde ao art. 17) reitera o Estatuto, e postula que *
