PALABRAS CLAVES:carbapenemes, genes casete, integrones clase 1, Klebsiella pneumoniae, resistencia antibió-tica.ABSTRACT.-Integrons are structures frequently observed in Gram negative bacilli, especially among members of the Enterobacteriaceae family. The presence of class 1 integron and the relationship with bacterial resistance were studied. The integron presence was investigated by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequencing. Thirty carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates were analyzed and were positive for the intI1 gene. Twenty six of these isolates amplified variable regions about 2000 base pairs. The common pattern of genes was (dfrA12-OrfF-aadA2). The presence of these platforms that promote genetic diversity gives resistance a broad range of antibiotics. The higher integron prevalence in this isolates functions as source for dissemination of resistance determinants.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
