Research background: Through the ongoing trend of digitalization, organizations competing in international markets are getting more exposed to different technology related risks. Globalization and technology support enabled small tech-based companies to scale and expand their business. On the other hand, this has also led to a significant rise of different types of threats. Companies engaged in the process of internalization are more exposed to digital risks than companies competing on the local market. In order to help their companies to manage digital risks, governments use relevant institutions and resources. However, many organizations still largely depend on their own capabilities. A growing number of organizations uses artificial intelligence in business models as a new type of response to digital risks. Artificial intelligence could be the missing link that will help connect organizational and government resources for successful management of digital risks.
Purpose of the article: To shed more light on this understudied issue, we conducted a literature review on the use of artificial intelligence in business models as a tool for managing digital risks on the global market.
Methods: Literature review.
Findings & Value added: We analysed the key determinants of artificial intelligence, their use in business models, and the way it can help organizations manage digital risks. Literature review summarizes the most important research on the topic and proposes new avenues for future research.
Ten years ago, the European Union recognized the importance of stopping further development of road freight transportation and the need for making rail freight a more prominent branch of industry. Rail transportation used to hold a more relevant position, but because of slow response to changes on the market and no investments in modernization, it now occupies only around 10% of the share in freight transportation in most EU member states. Most members have initiated the implementation of the restructuring and liberalization of rail market, with the aim of establishing a multimodal transportation network and reducing negative impact of road freight on the environment. The Croatian market is no exception, of course. It has liberalized the rail freight market since the Accession to the EU, while the rail passenger traffic is still monopolized by a company owned by the state. The Croatian national carrier HŽ Cargo has decided to face the competition by restructuring the current business and giving a sharper focus on innovation (intermodal terminals, RO-LA, and digitalization of business operations). The above-mentioned topics are analysed in the following chapter.
Air transport is the newest form of traffic branch and, in today's modern conditions, it advances very quickly. Basically, air transport provides passenger transportation, especially to faraway destinations, because of its greatest advantage-speed of travel. Due to globalization, the air transport market is characterized by strong competition, and the liberalization of the Croatian air transport industry has contributed to the increased utilization of international passenger transport. Precisely as a result of the aforementioned influences, air transport requirements in Croatia are experiencing higher growth. The dependence on air transport and tourism is increasingly necessary and of great economic importance. With the emergence of low-fare airlines on the Croatian market, passengers have more choices and opportunities than ever before. With their presence on the market, low-cost carriers have greatly influenced the air transport market and contributed to the growth of passenger traffic. This paper aims to explore passengers' satisfaction with low-cost carriers. The results of primary research show that passengers who travel with low-cost carriers place high importance on pricing, ticket availability and destination availability, and are satisfied with the service they receive in comparison to the ticket price. Passengers place importance on how quickly they can buy tickets online and the availability of various payment options.
