WRITING SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES AND PUBLICATIONS TRAINING IN JOURNALS FOR TEACHERS OF SMAN 4 TUALANG, SIAK REGENCY. The training of the article writing and journal publication was held in SMAN 4 Tualang, Kabupaten Siak-Riau due to teachers’ problems covering the lack of article writing knowledge, low motivation and awareness of the importance of conducting research and its dissemination particularly for teachers’ professional development. Moreover, the teachers did not know much about journals information whereby they could publish their article writing. Therefore, the outreach community team from Faculty of Education and Teachers’ training, Universitas Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru conducted this program in order to solve the teachers’ problems. This training was conducted in one day (8 hours) consisting of two sessions. In the first session (8-12 a.m.), the participants were given the materials about the essence, elements, and knowledge of article writing followed by making article draft (how to make a good title, abstract and introduction). In the second session (1-5 p.m.), the trainer gave materials pertaining to how to deal with publication process from registration, login, and article online submission in journals. The simulations were given as the trainer guided the participants to register to ELT Lectura FKIP Unilak Journal, Bio-Lectura Journal, and Lectura: Journal Pendidikan UNILAK, login, check and read information in the journals. In short, this training facilitated the SMAN 4 Tualang teachers’ knowledge and skills of article writing and they know how to publish their articles. The outreach team suggests future outreach community program conduct the same activity since there are many school teachers need the training of article writing and publication in journals.
Pelaksanaan pembelajaran di Indonesia dalam menghadapi masa covid-19 menuntut guru untuk tetap berperan aktif dalam meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan peran guru dalam meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik serta untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor pendukung dan penghambat proses pembelajaran. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan peran guru dalam meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik selama masa pandemi covid-19 yaitu 1) pembelajaran dilaksanakan secara luring atau BDR, 2) menciptakan suasana belajar yang menyenangkan, 3) menggunakan metode pembelajaran yang bervariasi, 4) penerapan media pembelajaran menggunakan laptop dan fasilitas belajar yang ada di rumah, 5) memperlihatkan hasil belajar, 6) pemberian motivasi, tugas, pujian dan hukuman atas hasil kerja peserta didik, 7) melakukan penilaian, 8) menjalin kerjasama antara guru dan orang tua. Sedangkan yang menjadi faktor utama pendukung guru guna meningkatkan kembali minat belajar peserta didik adalah dengan memanfaatkan fasilitas rumah yang mendukung pembelajaran dan sarana belajar. Kemudian yang jadi faktor utama penghambat guru adalah keterbatasan waktu yang dimiliki guru dan juga peserta didik saat melaksanakan proses belajar mengajar.
Practice teaching, indisputably, is one of the school activities distorted significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Practice teachers should adapt online learning to convey teaching and learning activities. This study aimed at finding out the internet device (wi-fi) available at schools in Pekanbaru municipality and learning media used by practicum teachers with the stable internet connectivity at schools in Pekanbaru municipality. There were 47 out of 51 English Education Students of Universitas Lancang Kuning involved in this research. They filled in 27 items of close-ended questions in the Likert scale. The findings revealed that most schools (83%) had wi-fi devices accessed by practicum teachers for teaching activities. With this device, practice teachers used more diverse applications (Google Classroom, Google Form, and Zoom video conference) more frequently (often), shown in the mean score of 4.0, to convey learning materials and tasks delivery. In schools with unstable internet connectivity, they chose the Whattsapp application to convey learning activities, including the delivery of the tasks. In conclusion, the availability of a wi-fi device with stable internet connectivity supports practice teachers in conducting online teaching activities during the pandemic. They can maximize the use of more diverse applications, namely Google Classroom, Google Form, and Zoom conference
This research aimed at exploring students’ interest and knowledge in blended learning context at English Education Department in Universitas Lancang Kuning (Unilak). This descriptive quantitative research involved 27 out of 135 students as the samples as they are part of a class that uses blended learning actively through their entire semester. These 27 students were selected by using random sampling technique from fourth, sixth, and eight semester in regular class. The questionnaire used as the main instrument to collect the data. The data analyzed descriptively in term of mean and standard deviation then interpreted descriptively. The result of the findings revealed that the majority of students’ have High level of students’ interest and knowledge in blended learning context. It was probed by their mean score, interest students’ score 3.71 and the students’ knowledge score 3.67. The standard deviation to interest was 6,83 and knowledge was 5.28. This is means that the blended learning which employed during these 2 years seems in a high interest and knowledge level among the students at English Language Education Department.
<p>Penelitian ini dilakukan karena fenomena beberapa orang guru Bahasa Inggris di Rayon 3 Kabupaten Siak jarang menggunakan media teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK) untuk kebutuhan mengajar dikelas. Guru-guru tersebut lebih fokus pada penggunaan buku pegangan/ referensi dan jarang memanfaatkan internet untuk mendapatkan materi ajar pendukung. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran kesiapan guru dalam penggunan aplikasi dasar TIK untuk proses pembelajaran. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 49 guru Bahasa Inggris dari berbagai jenjang, mulai dari Sekolah Dasar hingga Sekolah Menengah Atas, yang tergabung dalam kelompok guru Bahasa Inggris Rayon 3, dari tiga kecamatan yakni, Minas, Tualang dan Kandis, di Kabupaten Siak, Propinsi Riau. Metode penelitian ini adalah survei dan menggunakan desain <em>cross-sectional</em>, Instrumen penelitian menggunakan angket berisi 12 pertanyaan, yang tujuh diantaranya adalah pertanyaan inti tentang persepsi penguasaan aplikasi <em>Office</em> (<em>word, excel</em>, dan <em>powerpoint</em>) dan persepsi kemampuan penggunaan internet untuk <em>browsing</em>, <em>email</em>, <em>social</em> <em>media</em>, <em>blog</em>. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai <em>mean</em> berada pada angka 2.57. Untuk nilai modus dan nilai tengah (<em>median</em>) berada pada angka yang sama yakni 3.0. Untuk komponen nilai variabilitas, ditemukan bahwa standar devisi relatif tinggi yakni 0.707, nilai varian 5, dan rentang nilai minimum dan maksimum berada pada angka 1-4. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan kesiapan guru didalam penggunaan TIK berada pada level “cukup” dan “baik.” Mengacu pada hasil temuan, guru-guru senior perlu memperoleh pendampingan didalam penggunaan TIK agar mereka mampu dan siap didalam penggunan berbagai media TIK untuk menghadapi tantangan pembelajaran pada abad 21.</p>
