O presente artigo objetivou apresentar o caso clínico de um paciente transferido para centro terciário de atenção à saúde com queixas de disfagia, perda ponderal expressiva e rouquidão, sendo, posteriormente, diagnosticado com câncer de esôfago. Trata-se, então, de estudo descritivo, do tipo relato de caso, que visou analisar as principais características clínicas referidas pelo paciente em questão e o manejo terapêutico, além de traçar comparativos com a literatura. O câncer de esôfago (CE) é uma displasia de alta malignidade e ocupa o sétimo lugar entre as neoplasias mais incidentes e, dentre estas, a que detém o sexto lugar em termos de mortalidade. Sintomas como rouquidão, odinofagia, dor retroesternal, náuseas, vômitos, perda ponderal, sensação de empachamento e disfagia são observados em certos casos, sendo que perda do apetite, fadiga e mal-estar são considerados os de maior gravidade por alguns estudos. Diversos estudos são realizados com o intuito de estabelecer o melhor tratamento para o CE. Nessa perspectiva, e observando-se a conduta empregada neste relato de caso, ressalta-se o estudo CROSS, pautado pelo emprego de terapia neoadjuvante, seguida da cirurgia para a ressecção da neoplasia, que apontou uma maior sobrevida global dos doentes, além de incutir em uma menor mortalidade por CE na população analisada. Frente à agressividade do tumor, há perspectivas de que o cuidado do doente seja cada vez mais pautado pelas evidências científicas, trazendo benefícios potenciais para a qualidade de vida do paciente.
Analisar os principais desfechos maternos em gestantes infectadas pela COVID-19 e retratar a atual situação da vacinação contra o SARS-CoV-2 para essas mulheres. Metodologia: Trata-se de estudo de viés epidemiológico que visou a avaliação de dados do Observatório Obstétrico Brasileiro COVID-19, bem como a revisão da última atualização do Plano Nacional de Operacionalização da Vacinação contra a COVID-19 e da Nota Técnica nº1/2021, ambas com direcionamentos a este grupo de risco. Resultados: Cerca de 1% dos casos confirmados de Síndrome Respiratória Aguda Grave incidiu sobre gestantes e puérperas. Houve elevação de óbitos, aumento de internações em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva e maior necessidade de suporte ventilatório. Quanto à vacinação, 2.488.052 doses de vacinas serão disponibilizadas para este grupo. Ao se buscar compreender o desenvolvimento social brasileiro, uma variável a ser considerada são os níveis de natalidade da nossa população e os métodos de organização e planejamento das famílias brasileiras, desta maneira este tem como objetivo fazer uma análise sistemática da relação entre as taxas de natalidade e o desenvolvimento de intervenções como a laqueadura, para tal este se embasou no método de pesquisa qualitativo com ênfase no levantamento bibliográfico. Concluindo que há uma relação muito íntima entre os métodos de contracepção e a queda de natalidade média brasileira.
O objetivo do presente artigo foi descrever através da revisão de literatura de modo narrativo as principais considerações clínicas da asma. Foram incluídos artigos na categoria original, disponibilizados na íntegra, publicados nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol, durante os últimos 5 anos. Dos 250 estudos identificados, 13 foram eleitos. A asma é um distúrbio inflamatório crônico das vias respiratórias relacionado ao agrupamento de células inflamatórias e com o início de manifestações clínicas como o sibilo, aperto no peito, falta de ar e tosse. Geralmente, a obstrução ao fluxo aéreo não é total e é reversível de modo espontâneo e/ou com a terapêutica. Foi realizada uma revisão narrativa de literatura fundamentada nas renomadas plataformas de pesquisa, utilizando como descritores: asthma, health e obstruction. Diante o levantamento de dados, elucida-se que a asma é uma condição de intensa repercussão clínica para a saúde pública, a qual é crucial efetivar o diagnóstico precoce e diferencial de modo preciso para se manejar a terapêutica ideal para cada caso.
A osteomielite é um processo infeccioso e inflamatório ósseo provocado por microrganismos patogênicos, dentre os quais se destaca o Staphulococcus aureus. Diante desse contexto, o objetivo deste estudo é analisar o perfil epidemiológico, o custo de o tempo médio e mortalidade da osteomielite, no Brasil, nos últimos 5 anos. Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico, retrospectivo e quantitativo realizado através de dados secundários. No período analisado, foram registradas 71.866 internações por osteomielite, no Brasil. No que tange às regiões geográficas, o maior número de internações concentra-se na região Sudeste. Em relação à faixa etária, os pacientes entre 50 e 59 anos foram os mais acometidos. Em relação ao sexo biológico, o sexo masculino foi o que predominou, totalizando 51.176 das internações. Dentre as macrorregiões brasileiras, a região sul apresentou o maior valor médio de custos com internação por osteomielite. A média de internação por osteomielite, no período estudado, girou em torno de 8,4 dias, no Brasil. E, por fim, a taxa de mortalidade permaneceu entre 1,30, sendo que no ano de 2020 apresentou a maior taxa de mortalidade com 1,63. Esta pesquisa demonstra que a osteomielite é um problema de saúde pública, sendo passível de diagnóstico precoce e cuidados preventivos, devendo haver ações como educação em saúde, visando minimizar gastos desnecessários e melhorar a qualidade de vida das pessoas.
