International audienceLes ouvrages de jeunesse sur le thème du handicap peuvent être un support pour accompagner les situations éducatives ou pédagogiques. Cet article propose une analyse d’un corpus de 22 ouvrages francophones pour enfants de 3 à 11 ans, publiés depuis 2000, abordant la question de l’autisme. Nous essayons de dégager la représentation qu’ils proposent des enfants avec autisme en nous attachant plus particulièrement à leurs comportements. L’analyse thématique permet de dégager six caractéristiques des enfants avec autisme qui apparaissent dans au moins la moitié des livres : 1. des enfants qui ont des comportements étranges et dérangeants, 2. des enfants qui ne nous voient pas et ne nous entendent pas, 3. des enfants qui vivent dans un autre monde, 4. des enfants qui ne jouent pas et ont des rituels, 5. des enfants qui ne communiquent pas, 6. des enfants qui présentent une hypersensibilité. Nous croisons ensuite cette description avec les données scientifiques actuelles en nous appuyant sur les critères diagnostiques du DSM-5. On observe que la littérature jeunesse offre un panorama exhaustif et bien documenté des troubles, constat que nous tentons de compléter et d’expliquer par plusieurs spécificités éditoriales, mais qui autorise quelques premières réflexions quant aux potentialités éducatives de cette littérature

Un corpus de 17 ouvrages francophones s'adressant à des enfants de 3 à 12 ans, abordant explicitement la question de la trisomie 21 (T21) et publiés entre 1995 et 2011, sont soumis à une première analyse de contenu thématique qui porte sur les représentations de l'enfant porteur de handicap (caractéristiques physiques, capacités intellectuelles et sociales). Une seconde analyse se centre sur la spécificité des relations fraternelles et plus particulièrement sur la place de la fratrie du sujet porteur de handicap. Les résultats de cette analyse débouchent sur l'examen des rapports entre les représentations mises à jour, la fonction pédagogique attendue des ouvrages de jeunesse et les données de la littérature scientifique consacrée aux relations familiales au sein des familles d'enfants porteur de T21. INTRODUCTIONSi les travaux consacrés aux relations entre littérature jeunesse et relations familiales se sont développés au cours des dernières années (Bouyer, Mietkiewicz et Schneider, 2005 ; Schneider et Mietkiewicz, à paraître), l'abord spécifique de la thématique du handicap reste marginal, alors même que les ouvrages de jeunesse qui abordent ce thème sont nombreux et que les éducateurs recherchent dans les ouvrages pour enfants un support pour éduquer le regard, un médiateur pour engager le dialogue, un outil pour favoriser l'intégration de l'enfant. Recher et Miet (1989) soulignent qu'à partir des années 1970-1980, les livres pour enfants sont utilisés par les pédagogues pour initier le dialogue sur des sujets qui font débat : le racisme, l'homosexualité, la mort, etc. Par ailleurs, les représentations dans les livres de jeunesse ne peuvent être dissociées du contexte social et culturel qui les sous-tend, comme l'illustre la recherche de Joselin (2008) 1 qui a, par exemple, souligné les rapports entre les représentations du handicap dans les albums pour enfants et les politiques d'intégration scolaire comparées de l'Italie et de la France.
National audienceLa maladie d’Alzheimer est insidieuse, les troubles font leur apparition lentement : les conjoints aidants sont les plus exposés aux difficultés qui rythment la vie quotidienne avec une personne atteinte de cette démence. À travers neuf récits (parus entre 1993 et 2012) de conjoints de malades d’Alzheimer, nous avons tenté de comprendre le cheminement du conjoint. Comment ce dernier glisse-t-il vers une aide absolue et totale ? Trois phases de l’accompagnement sont ici développées : les premières inquiétudes et le glissement vers le rôle d’aidant qui s’opère, l’accompagnement à domicile, où le conjoint est bien installé dans son rôle d’accompagnant principal, puis le moment, tant redouté, de l’entrée en établissement d’hébergement pour personnes agées dépendantes. Enfin, nous nous attarderons sur la manière dont ce cheminement s’articule à la problématique de la mort, selon des modalités propres à chaque étape
Cette étude s’intéresse aux représentations, dans la littérature jeunesse, des relations entre les enfants avec trisomie et autisme et leurs frères et soeurs, au regard des conclusions des travaux scientifiques sur les relations fraternelles à l’épreuve du handicap qui mettent en évidence l’impact différentiel de ces deux types de handicap sur la construction de ce lien. Cet intérêt pour la littérature jeunesse se justifie par le fait que lorsque les livres destinés aux jeunes enfants abordent des questions difficiles comme le handicap, ils proposent des situations et des modalités de réponse en accord avec les représentations et normes culturelles. Ainsi, ils peuvent aider au dialogue en particulier avec les frères et soeurs d'enfants avec handicap et remplir une fonction éducative. Dans cette perspective, 24 livres destinés aux enfants âgés de 3 à 12 ans, 12 pour chacun des deux types de handicap ont fait l’objet d’une analyse de contenu. Les résultats indiquent que tous les ouvrages autorisent l’expression de la souffrance et d’un rapport conflictuel avec l’enfant porteur de handicap. Mais, alors que l’empathie et les gratifications affectives perçues par la fratrie de l’enfant avec trisomie permettent d’instaurer la complicité, le rejet et l’indifférence ressentis par celle de l’enfant avec autisme peuvent entraver la construction du lien fraternel. À l’injonction parentale à la responsabilisation s’ajoute pour les frères et soeurs des enfants avec autisme l’exigence d’une compréhension inconditionnelle qui est ressentie comme injuste. Il appert donc que les livres étudiés sont susceptibles d’accompagner utilement les frères et soeurs des enfants porteurs de handicap et permettent une potentielle reprise éducative, mais ouvrent rarement sur une projection dans l’avenir.
