Purpose: to describe and analyze the clinical instruments that assess peripheral facial palsy through an integrative literature review. Methods: the precepts for this type of review were followed: research question, identification, selection of studies, and critical analysis. The Virtual Health Library (VHL), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Google Scholar, and PubMed databases were accessed to search for fully available articles published in national journals between January 2008 and July 2018. The terms used in the search were “Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences”, “Evaluation”, and “Facial Paralysis”, in both English and Portuguese. The data obtained were organized per author, title, objective, instruments used, description of the instruments, and application procedures used in the articles. Results: out of the total 992 articles found, only 18 met the inclusion criteria of the research. In most of them, there was only the citation of the assessment instruments or considerations about them, without fully describing the application procedures. Conclusion: the study identified publications that indicate the use of clinical and speech-language-hearing assessment instruments. However, further detailing is necessary regarding the assessment procedures to help develop and refine the speech-language-hearing methodologies and techniques.
The development of the mammary gland occurs mainly after birth, with the branching morphogenesis on the onset of the puberty and terminal differentiation on each pregnancy. These processes are regulated by several pathways, including Wnt pathway, insulin/ insulin like growth factor -1 (IGF1), fibroblast growth factor (FGF) and theTRPV6 calcium channel.Klotho was first described as an antiaging protein. Its biological functions include the inhibition of Wnt and insulin/IGF-1 pathway, it is mandatory co-reception for FGF23 and stabilizes the TRPV5 and 6 channel on the plasma membrane. Klotho regulates several pathways that are important for mammary gland development and are frequently disrupted in tumoral progression of the breast. Despite these correlations, the role of klotho in the mammary gland has never been studied. Therefore, the goal of this work is to bring a first understanding of the role of klotho on morphogenesis and differentiation of the mammary gland. The mammary gland development of wild type (WT) and klotho deficient (KL) mice were compared by whole mount in 3, 4 and 8 weeks old animals. WT and KL glands do not differ until puberty (3 weeks age), but, after 4 weeks, the gland from KL animal presents a delayed ductal development. The KL mammary gland is capable of responding to Estrogen and Progesterone stimuli, but its morphology markedly differs from the WT gland, with a delay in epithelial elongation, dilated end buds and abnormal lateral ramification. The transplants of total KL and WT mammary glands on WT mice or the transplant of epithelial portion into mammary cleared fat pad suggest klotho plays an autonomous and nonautonomus role in this organ. In tridimensional cultures, organoids of KL-deficient primary mammary epithelial cells display less cohesion than organoids of WT cells, suggesting a possible role of klotho in cell-cell interaction. Together, these data suggest that klotho plays an autonomous and nonautonomous role in murine mammary gland morphogenesis.
Abstract:The main goal of this article is to illustrate all the steps needs to produce an automotive exhaust system. The exhaust system is of extreme importance to the vehicle, since it reduces the noise created by the ignition of the gases and improves the vehicle's performance. To better comprehend the product, all the components that compose the set were presented, their functions with tables and flowcharts. Moreover, the variables were essential to elaborate the process being presented the exhaust system, its functionality, its deterioration and the attention needed for this product. The article approaches the components that compose the set by breaking down the machines and process done to create the exhaust from raw material until shipping.
