English is a Lingua Franca in the many domains. Its spread is a factor and a result of the Expanding Globalization. The current conflict between Russia and the West initiates a number of increasing concerns towards the fate and the future of the Russian language.To be more exact, they are underdevelopment, pidginization and influx and spread of the English language uncontrolled. The research was carried out at Saint Petersburg University in the period of January 2016. RESUMOO inglês é uma Língua Franca em muitos domínios. A sua propagação é um fator e um resultado da expansão da globalização. O conflito atual entre a Rússia e o Ocidente suscita uma série de preocupações crescentes em relação ao destino e ao futuro da língua russa. Para sermos mais exatos, ela está em subdesenvolvimento, pidginização (linguagem de contato), e com influxo e disseminação da língua inglesa descontrolados. Quatro concepções foram escolhidas por especialistas: inglês mundial, inglês russo, concepção multilingue e inglês como investimento. As características de cada conceito foram identificadas e discutidas em termos de sua influência sobre o processo de educação CLIL. As "concepções-líderes" foram determinadas por ranking. São elas:inglês russo e concepção multilingual. Apesar do fato de que o conceito de inglês russo é considerado apropriado na atualidade, as preferências futuras estão associadas ao conceito de multilinguismo. For a long time, the assumption prevailed that all scientific texts should conform to a common academic style. Then some papers started to emphasise the specificity of a discourse into scientific disciplines. Now, under the influence of globalization and the shift to teaching in the lingua franca languages, there is a question about the peculiarities of a national style of academic discourse. The article continues a series of studies in the field of sociological discourse and its changing after the introduction of SFL-based CLIL approach in non-western sociological doctoral programmes.
